    Nightsun Replacement Battery...

    Hello MTB night riders...

I have an old XC Nightsun, which I used to love... bought it around 1996 and it lasted for years.

I'm finally getting back into night riding and i want to resurect my nightsun with a new battery.

Looking online Nightsun has a replacment but it is quite expensive:

Is there an alternative replacement battery for the Night Sun XC?

    Thanks very much!

Any 12 volt battery should work. Look at for replacements. They can also rebuild your pack for you if you aren't comfortable cutting and reconnecting the plug from the old battery pack.

I suggest you build an NiMh pack for it. That's what I've done for my old Nightsuns. In essence, you'll buy NiMh sub-c cells from ebay, cut apart the old Nightsun battery, build a cell-set using the same wiring pattern and actual lead wire from the OEM, slide them into a new water bottle and seal it up. Then you use your same old Nightsun charger, but get more light and more run time, for about $40 total.

I'll go ahead and say it, it's time to upgrade. Get a whole MAGICSHINE system for less than that old technology NiCad battery.
