Need help picking new battery and run times.

    Hey All:

    I need a new battery for a Turbocat Helmet light. 15w bulb and I believe it's a 4.8w bulb.

If I buy a 7.2v Nimh 5Ah battery, what would the run time be. What is the formula since this is overvolted.

Or I wouldn't mind 4/3 A cell battery. Lighter. What's the highest mAh rating you have all seen w/ these cells.

Batteryspace has good selection. Any other sites to compete w/ them.

    Thanks

THe TurboCat folks are the nicest, most helpful, and reasonably priced around. I would call them directly.

Don't understand from your info what you have or what you're asking. You say "15w bulb and I believe it's a 4.8w bulb" Well which is it 15 or 4.8? Can't be both. Is a 4/3 A cell 1.333 Amps (four divided by three) or do you mean a quantity of four 3 Amp cells? What is "Lighter"? What the heck! Just hook it up and see how long it is lighter with 1.333 amps or is that kilowatts?

    It's most likely a 15w 4.8v bulb.

I assume the old battery was 6v, so the bulb is already over-volted.

Going to a 7.2v will make it a lot brighter, but the bulb may not last too long if it's old.

There was a chart on here a while ago that helps with calculating run time when over-volting, will see if I can dig it up.

    Hey Baulz:

Your correct. I must must have been tired when I wrote that like I am now.

If you can dig up the chart, that would be great.

    Thanks

Here is the thread where I found the chart, some good reading in there.

Overvolted 20W hal vs. 13W HID

And a direct link to the chart.

It's all based on 12v lights, but you should be able to re-calculate for your lights. It's too early in the morning for me to do much math.
