    Mr16 Led Bulb?

Here is my setup I am running 15 watt mr16 halogen bulb and a 14.4 battery. This works great for about 2 hours befor battery is dead. I would like to go to a LED bulb any ideas?

You can buy a DIY E27 housing from dealextreme.com and an upcoming 3 XP-G module from Quazzle: A nice alternative to P7 LED (1100 lumens guaranteed)

You might want to be careful because these are 12v, but these may be an option.

your housing, does not look, it's an MR16 ?
    looks like a mag head.

almost all of the MR16 LED's, are longer then a standard one,
    as such, does not fit.

the angles/deg and led colors are a mixed bag , you never know what you get,
or if you going to like it.

you running 15W on overvolt 14.4V , be 22W,... and gets dimmer as it gets down,
    more runtime = bigger battery

the MR16 LED's are expensive, considering, you need a housing for each + misc,
    $30 + 30 , + cable ,connector, misc,..

    what works for me,
    - bigger battery
    - add a MR16 LED
    ---
need at least 2 lamps, offroad, 3x,

non of the lamps died on my , at 14.8V ... 16.2V max
so all those 12V work ok. most work with 3s 11.1V packs too,
even 10V nimh,... not the 3 led ones, on 10V,..

PM me, measure the lamp inside size,... show some pictures,
if you want to keep / salvage/ mod it. I have loads of MR16's LED's,
no, it's not free, no it's not the cheapest, no it's not the brightest.

    cheers, Rob

If you don't mind doing some modification you can easily fit LED's into that light. I have several older modded mag lights that are still very usable - a couple P7's, and couple Q5's (one is a quad bikelight that throws pretty darn good for an older light), the other uses a Dealextreme "drop-in" module.

Dealextreme.com has some "drop-in" modules that would probably fit (may require some filing of the module though). I found that the DX module I used in one light did not make good contact though, so I stuffed some aluminum foil in the gap which helped with the heat transfer. Made for a simple upgrade to a maglight. This is the one I used, and it is quite old, but there are newer and better modules which would probably fit too:

EDIT - note that the XRE modules are generally going to be a very tight beam, P7's are a better for flood.

If you want to see what you can do with that light, I'd suggest checking out CandlePowerForums "Homemade and Modified Flashlights" section:

They are usually at the cutting edge of cramming LED's into maglights
