A light from the spares bin XM-L

While I was waiting for the Solarstorm light to come from ebay (which is really really good if you were wondering, except for maybe getting quite hot), I put together this little light from bits I had,

I wanted to try to integrate the heatsink into the actual case a bit more than you usually see - I came up with this.

Ignore the fact it still has blue on it :-)

It is using the little single mode 1.25A driver from DX, I've not measured the actual output and the optic is an LEDIL LXP - but it gives a nice output.

I recently got a some of those drivers and assembled one light so far with them. Only driving at .69A. Cheap crap.

Seems ok to be honest - 18V 5W Cree Circuit Board for Flashlights (16.8mm*5.5mm) - Free Shipping - DealExtreme - you can change the sense resistor if you want to play with it a little more.

I shaved it off a little - seems to handle the heat ok.

I measured 1.24Amp without modification of the driver, so I am more than happy with that :-)
