LED bulbs to replace halogen NR lights?

This may be a stretch, but with all of the experts on this forum, I thought someone may have a solution.

I have an old niterider dual beam head, and started wondering... does anyone make a bright 3-LED bulb that would fit that housing (for a total of 6 high output LED's)? Could I go to batteryspace and "build" myself a super-bright setup using that housing and swith for <$150? I would be using this to compliment a NR Rage HID on my helmet.

    Heat

The old NR housing are plastic, and not especially heat conductive. LEDs need to conduct heat away to maintain performance (hotter=dimmer then it melts). You'd have to attach a heatsink to the outside and have a heat path to it.
This isn't a "you're doing it wrong" topic.

Oh... so I'd probably be better off getting this, and just use the halogens as a bar light?
