    Double XM-L's

    Hi !

I am new on this forum(i've got only a few posts), and i decided to present my build.

    It's a bike headlight with 2x XM-L, performing 1800lm, both on high.

One has eliptical lents and one has a 20 degree for high beam.

It's not much for someone(i've seen realy sun beam's at some MTBR members), but for me is too much.

Hey Khrystyan27 this looks like an interesting build. Please give some details.

You say "high beam" could that explain the 4 switches ?

    The headlight has some updates...

Now i've removed a switch, and it has only 3:

    Park lights - OFF - XM-L

    short beam/high beam/both

    LOW/HIGH

    Beamshot's soon...

I am using a normal heatsink.

But is a problem if i stay for more than 15 mins. The heatsink reaches about 100-110 degrees Celsius... I am afraid of my XM-L's... They could be destroyed.

Maybe my further headlights will have a bigger heatsink...

I liked the way the heatsink fits into the structure of aluminum. Good idea,

Yeah... But it's useful when you "park" the bike in a dark area and you are not close to it.

    Thanks. Powerful too.

On high beam i can be saw for over 2km.

I also made a battery test.(2S2P/2400mAh piece). On low/high i got a 3:40 hour run time. On LOW&HIGH i got a 1:25 run time. Pretty much for a 2400mAh battery. On the future i will just make a new 2S4P/2500mAh pack.

How did you go about mounting that driver? I'm wondering about keeping it from shorting on the case.

This driver with those XM-L's with a regina reflector would give some serious throw and be very cheap to make.

The driver has no metal contact with the Al case. I buy some CPU themal pads, and they are really non conductive.
