James has a habit of stealing new tech and writing about it here and on his Blog.

Check it out here with beam shots here.

    Cheers, Dave.

Not yet that I know of. I haven’t heard anything for a while but I assume they would still be developing the light. They may even be playing with some of the new emitters that have emerged on the market recently? It shouldn’t be too far off hopefully, and I’m sure they will be reasonably priced!

It'll be under $500. How far under, I don't know. Considering the Lupine Wilma (4x3W) is $550, this should be pretty competative.

At ~$500, it should be as bright as an HID. Performance had NightRider Enduro HID lights for $240 on a recent sale. I really like the idea of not having to replace $100+ lamps but the Lupine costs what a new HID and 3 replacement bulbs costs.

I really hope the new light doesn't cost that much but given the 5w Lion is $300...

It’s a little unfair to be talking about and comparing prices when the light hasn’t even been released yet. However I do agree that some manufacturers are extremely ambitious with their pricing. Continued development of emitter technology and gradual consumer acceptance will eventually drive the prices down hopefully.

EDIT: Also take a look at the huge difference in prices of the current HID offerings by various manufacturers… Mind you there is a huge range in terms of both quality and features at both ends of the price range.

    Dave.
