    4 3 2

as you know I have the Quad and Triple .

    so now the Double

Only the two pics I am afraid as now have an X camera the trusty 3 MP is dead
after I knocked over the tripod in the woods

specs so far is 1 Laura RS and 1 CXP RS
    H6flex
and rough hewn housing just like its brothers .

To sum it up so far the Quad is good but not great plenty of lumens but some thing is just not there for me could be the Reginas are lacking a little

The Triple Cute is also good and IMHO better than the Quad but not as a helmet light much better on the bars so bar mount to be fitted soon .

I went out this morning with the pooch in darkness with no street lighting with the Quad on the bars and the Double on the helmet what was immediately apparent was the strength of the double beam on level 3 compared to the Quad on max it easily made its mark and out threw the 4 Reginas .

I have had this theory from the MCE days messing with the square ledils that if removed from their holders when using more than one they help each other out some how with the spare lumens ,( This could be total bollocks )

Chris, to out throw the 4 regina's she must be a bright little bugger. What leds to end up using and what amperage to beat the regina's?

    XMLs @ 3 amps current table .

Only on ride on this combination so more testing to do it did surprise me too

the quad went so far down the tarmac but was on the bars might be the extra height and angle of the helmet light made it seem to go further .

Not bother for this one never even warmed up on max but then it was just off freezing

they are all just for me to use and give me an idea what is needed for warmer climes

got 1 XML left now so a single is next when the Lflex`s come out probably with the Rocket optic

Doesn't look rough at all to me. Fin the heck out of it.

I really don't think the finning is needed on these lumps of aluminum. Fins will/do help in warmer climates and/or slower riding speeds. Plus they just look really cool.

I have a tiny 12v driver from a salvaged desk lamp LED bulb if you want it. No idea on drive current though, but the LED is a XP-E (I think - really large dome, metal ring around the bottom, tiny die).

As for the escaped light from one optic going into another - sounds possible. If the light from one hits the other at a right angle, it should go in and then be reflected out the front. I wonder how that would compare with light leaving an optic then being reflected back off the holder into the optic, should be better I guess.

no worries Link to the driver? Is it a teapot? This has started me thinking about an all-in-one Hammond box rear light as I have a couple of XP-Es kicking around..

    Oops

I think I may have got the beam shots a bit mixed up .

OK so I built this double with one CXP and one Laura in the belief that the spottier optic was the CXP .
rides great and has real punch .

So decided to make my mate one with even better punch 2 CXPs took in out this morning and WTF it seemed a floody bugger

So today Mark three was born and put two Laura`s in this one switched on and in the daylight it is very noticeably spottier than the other .

so it seems I must have gotten a bit confused with which optic I was using at the beamshot time .

more to follow after I have been thrashed with battery cables

    OK back again

the beam on the left is 2 XMLs and Laura optic
on the right is 2 XMLs and CXPs
    both on the same setting

needless to say the CXPs will be getting replaced pretty soon .

    Sorry for any confusion caused

And mine look sort of like Emu's original triple.
    No worries.
Only so many ways to skin a cat or fin extrusion.
The mill does let you do alot more interesting stuff, and the rolled front edge really looks the biz.

Had about two uninterupted hours this morning and did some table saw work.
The inside is only 19mm square so only the Regina or Tina will fit in it.
The outside edge was cut by setting the tablesaw blade at 45 degrees.
Something to think about. I sort of like it for now.

... and if we just ... Tell Laura I Love Her

Bloody hell Tex you have been making chips
can we have a video of you in action next time . Yes I think my stock is the same internal sizes as need to machine it out a little for the Ledil squares.

OK just to confirm my cock up . pics at the new mtbr setting 4 seconds F4 WB Daylight

    2 CXPs @ 3 amps

    2 laura`s @ 3 amps

    1 of each @ 3 amps

the Cxp is quite a bit floodier still not a bad light but I prefer the punch of the laura .

though thank fully the combination is very nice

That's a great looking light, Troutie. I've got some Lauras in hand I'm going to put into a 2-up build. What mount is that your using? Is it readily available?

The mount is one of my own from the Mini Troutie light .did think about making one like Yetibetty`s flat pack mount .

First ride on it this morning and very happy with the result long quite narrow beam
with just enough spill for me I am pretty impressed .
I was spotting rabbits at 200 metres easily .
and that was only on level 3
I have it set on TRIO mode so 1 / 3 / 5 even 1 is very usable
on hi it ran for 1 hour at various speeds and did not dim down until 10 minutes into a forced walk due to a puncture 1 mile from home .

levels 1 and 3 no sign of it even getting warm

I have not seen it on Cutters site yet I got mine from Farnells UK

Some comparison shots with known lights

Disclaimer I reverted back to the 6 Seconds as over the water it sucked up loads of light
and the Bastid just did not show up @ 4 secs
Which matters not as long as they were all at the same setting

so first up the Bastid on high

    then the 7UP @ 1 amp

the dual XML / Laura @ 3 amps

and finally the Dual XML 1 Laura + 1 CXP
