    18650 Battery Holder Question

Is there anything wrong using 18650 battery holder w/PCM with protected 18650's?

I'm thinking of getting some 2S2P holders from fasttech which has built in PCM but all my batteries are protected 18650. Is it better for me to also get unprotected 18650's to use with the battery holder?

Been going night riding a lot this summer and want to play around with different battery config.

    Thanks

    You mean these:
$6.15 2S2P 7.4V 18650 Holder with Battery Build-in PCM Protection Circuit Module at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

The wires look incredibly thin. Fasttech rates it for 5A, but I somehow doubt that. 1A is probably the most I would attempt.

There's no harm in using protected cells - assuming they fit! Over at Batteryspace, for their identical looking holders they state that you should only use standard unprotected flat-top cells. A button-top protected cell will be around 6mm longer than a flat-top unprotected cell, so it might not fit.

The wires can't be any thiner than the holders I've bought from DX. I'll grab some unprotected flat top cells to try with these holders. Thanks.

You're welcome. The wiring on the DX holders (also sold by many others) definitely sucks. On top of the super thin wiring, the rivets eventually work loose and then the resistance goes way up. I replace the rivets with nuts, bolts and washers, and it's much better now.
