    What year is this Unit?

I just bought a 2012 Kahuna DL but there is a Unit on CL that has come down considerably in price (about $250 now) so I'll probably go look at it. But I had a couple questions....

First, does anyone know what model year this Kona is? I couldn't find it on any of the Kona sites. It has caliper brakes so I figure it can't be terribly new. And then if you know the year, do you know what the frame is made out of?

Lastly, what do people use their single-speed Unit's for? I've never had one but I've loved every Kona I've owned so I figured for a couple hundred dollars it might be worth picking this up just for the fun of it.

Thanks for any help you can give....

    Looks like 2006.

BikePedia - 2006 Kona Unit Complete Bicycle

Those are 26", by the way.

I use my 29" rigid ss Unit for just about everything.

    I'm really good looking.

I was going to say 2006 or 2007, based on memory, but 4nbstd hit it on the head.

It is a steel 26" bike (if that matters) with disc and canti brake options.

I am still kicking myself for not buying one used at a shop a couple years ago for the parts...

Thanks for the help. I think I'll go check it out tonight. My only concern is the SO height. I usually ride 18 inch frames but it's close (I had to go down to a 16 inch on my 29'er). But as long as it's about 31 or less I should be fine (I'm 5'7 with a 32 inch inseam).
