Kona Fire Mountain 2012 I'll change the tensioner with BB mount ASAP - I hate drop out tensioner.

My 2 week old Unit 2012.
Got a really nice deal since its the old model.
Very comfortable bike, legs just need to get used to having only 1 speed

Only "upgrade" so far are a set of XTR Trail pedals. Next upgrade after 300 miles when I know what the bike needs.

I'm soon to be riding a brand new totally stock 1995 fire mountain. As soon as I figure out how to load pics on here I'll post some. This bike was overstock and must have been lost. It has been sitting in its box for almost 18 yrs.

I've got a Blink, first bike since being a kid when I had crappy Apollo.

It's been fun blasting about on this thing, heavy as hell though for a h/t and the weekly swap of tyres from the Nevegal to some more road friendly Conti DoubleFighter 2's for the commute back and forth to work has become a bit of a drag but the tyres aren't the bikes fault.

Anyway, it's the bike which has made me feel like a kid again and got me on proper trails for the first time ever and thanks to it I've went out and bought a Commencal Meta 5.5 (2011 full carbon edition) frame to use as my trail bike. Can't wait to get that all built up.

The Kona though will remain with me forever, it'll last trust me, it'll be my daily commuter and the bike I jump on to blast through the streets to the shop.

It's gonna grow old and tatty with me.

Oh and I convinced the lass to get a bike and she's riding a Kona Fire Mountain (now she just needs to ride it more often, hopefully some summer riding will convince her)

Looks good. You wouldn't want to trade an 02 Bear Dee-Lux for it would you ?

Nah Chris, I want to keep the Blink for the slog back and forward to work, h/t is a must for that one plus it comes in handy in the winter when it's muddy as hell, got a bit more mud clearance.

I've got one of these now for my f/s fix

Nice bike, glad you like it. However that is not a 2010, its a 2008-2009. In 2010 the design was changed and for the better I might add. Anyhow just wanted to clarify for you enjoy.

This build is nothing special (in fact that is the whole point) but provides a lot of fun for us..

The frame is a "Hahanna" with matching fork and stem, perfect for a taxi/commuter bike.

Taxi to daycare during the week, Limo for leisure rides during the weekend..

Ps: I always love old Kona hardtails

    UK rider here saying hi.
I started riding in 'properly' 2005 (at 14)and this was my first bike- Kona Cowan. I loved it and rode it everywhere.

I then developed as a rider and have owned so many different brands and types of bike. Such as this CX SS..

Now I've come full circle 8 years later- Kona Explosif 650b.

Bring on some dry trails and warm summers.

    Kona Firemountain

I really wanted a Kona Explosif from the mid to late 90's but plan on seeing if if it's a capable offroader.

Hello all. Here's my 2005 Caldera that I just picked up as a bare frame. This is what I've done to it so far after four hours of cleaning and working on it. I've always wanted a Kona so I'm pretty stocked about getting this one trail ready.

So far it had a Marcozzi Bomber fork, Bontager wheel set, Dura-Ace BB, and a few odd and end bits.
