Been riding my King Kahuna for about 9 months now. Amazing bike, my 2nd kona. Can't wait to get another one, probably a Cadabra/Satori!

    My 2006 Kona Unit

Upgraded the stock Shimano 17T freewheel to a White Industries (MADE IN USA!) ENO 20T freewheel. I am loving the new freewheel's buzzing sound when coasting!

    2012 Kona Unit

    Post your Kona's!(and introduce yourself)-400206_4807081262840_1791351171_n.jpg

I'm Tim. I was happily riding a Scott Scale 29er when I decided to buy my wife a simple but fun 29er mtn bike. I found a Redline Monocog Flight 29er on CL and bought it. After taking it to a local trail I knew I'd never be happy riding anything but a single speed from then on. Hence the leftover 2012 Unit. I've made a few changes and will make more as needed or as cash flows. I have approximately 200 miles on it now and get an ear to ear grin every time I ride it. Eventually I'll upgrade the wheels, headset and possibly the stem. I started with a Crank Bros Iodine stem but had to set it aside when the carbon fork came in, the Ritchey just happened to be in a box in the garage. I've also changed saddles recently to a Specialized Phenom.

    Tanuki DL

Late summer this year I was up at our cabin in the Truckee, CA area, noticed all the cool guys cruising in their trucks with their downhill bikes hanging over the tailgate. I'm too old to be a cool guy but I had to get a piece of the action anyway so I hit a couple shops and after a brief test ride I dropped the plastic down on the 2012 Tanuki deluxe. Knowing nothing about mountain bikes I feel very fortunate that I found a shop with this bike in stock on the day my impulse hit. So far I've ridden it around the Folsom lake area and am having a blast with it. We replaced the pedals and seat day of purchase but I have no other upgrade/changes planned. A lot of fun to ride!
Picture here, apparently I'm too new to post img or link

Hi all! New to the forum. I'm a spanish rider from Madrid. I own a Kona Daug Deluxe from 2007 (the dark green one). I've upgraded a few things on her, including going 2x9 with 36 and 24t chainrings, bigger brakes, shorter stems... Next in line is a new fork. I'll post pictures as soon as I can!

    2011 Coilair

Just built up this Coilair frame I got off of Ebay. I switched all the parts over from my KHS Velvet. I only have a couple rides on it, but I'm really liking it so far, very plush. It weighed in at 29lbs.

Hello, my name is Yunghan and I posted this on the vintage retro board, but this is my latest bike reclamation rebuild.

    1994 explosif
with a Marzocchi Bomber Z2 bought for 60 bucks.
    restored w/
    Deore XT m737 crankset
    Deore XT m737 rear deralleurs
    SRAM 11-32 rear cassette
    SRAM chain
Ukai EX-17 rims with Deore m510 hubs and Panaracer Fire XC pros
    New SS rear deralleur cable
Alloy GT platforms bought for 5 bucks used at a local LBS. These were supposed to be temp pedals, but they kinda grew on me because they are bomb proof.
    Chainstay guard.

    Kona Unit

Hi guys, here's my Kona Unit, the new raw steel model. I built it up as a 2x9 with a custom WTB/Hope wheel set. Going to cut my steerer tube down just a bit, otherwise I'm done with this build, except for maybe a tubeless conversion down the road.

Thanks pulsarxxx. Good luck with your build. I can def. recommend it, mine's been great so far. Not hard at all to set up gears on the Unit, and frame seems rock solid.

Cackalacky nice ride! How are you liking that wheelset? I was thinking of the same setup for my Honzo....are the new Hopes quieter as they are rumored to be?

Thanks CBizzie. Wheelset is awesome. They are stiff and fairly Iight. I could have saved even more weight with the i19's, but wanted the i23 width.

I was worried that the Hopes would be annoyingly loud but I don't even notice them. They are louder than my xt's for sure, but they don't bother me.

Pulsarxxx, not sure of the weight, hope to get a scale soon though. I don't mind a little extra weight if it gets me some durability. Good luck with yours, nice looking bike! I like the simplicity of an SS but gears are def. nice to have.

Hey i'm new here. I went to a bike swipe looking for a Gunnar ruffian, i found a Kona Kula 2-9 frame. I saw scandium, price and couldn't resist. I'm a weight weenie. I had an older Salsa (scandium) and bike was under 19 lbs. It's time for a WW 29 SS. I had no idea that Kona's where made in Washington, USA.

My first Kona was a '97 King Kikapu and was a great bike back-in-the-day. I cried when it was stolen by a tweaker in Big Bear CA.

I now have a 2013 Satori. Rides like a Kona should - Superb!
