Just picked this up today. My first 29er (first post) and my first Kona, '11 "Kahuna" found a great deal and could not pass it up. Plan on taking it out tomorow for a good long ride was too dark when I got home today for any good riding.

My new '12 Hei Hei 29. Really love this bike, and got me on a FS 29er for under 2k! Yay me! Rides are so fun on this thing. Really makes me feel confident on the sketchy stuff. The weekends can't get here fast enough so I can go blast the trails!
It's squeaky clean b/c I wash it after every ride. Check my DIY Bike Stand thread to see how I hold it while I clean it.
My name's Jman I'm an engineer in TX. Got my boy a Lanai (HT) and am trying to get him into the sport too, but it's been tough going after he bit the dust (literally) and chipped his tooth! He's now in 'conquer your fear' mode

2010 Kona Dawg
My pride and joy. She's stock 2010 (Recon 335, RP2, XT, etc.) but I upgraded the wheels (ancient but light and indestructible Crossmax Discs, Maxxis Ignitors, Answer carbon bar, and Bontrager saddle. I like the sexiness of the scandium frame . I also slapped on my trusty 170mm LX crank, 170mm feels better pedaling to me and gives me more clearance. 30 lbs dead.

Thanks Jman! I'm 5'10" to 5'11" , so technically I could go anywhere from 170 to 175mm. I went shorter because I like having more pedal clearance and it just feels right... personal preference.

Hi!
First post here! My name is Jis. I got into riding about a year ago. I got a road bike (Windsor Wellington 3.0 from BD) early last year and just got a mountain bike about a couple of months ago.
Here are pics of my XC Kona 2+2:

My bike + my friend's Motobecane 29er Ti after a ride, getting some sugar.

Yea I love it! I got a great deal on Chainlove too. I may not have been able to afford it other wise.
I love how they painted the brakes and levers white to match the color scheme. I don't want to replace anything on that bike, even the really hard seat just because it looks awesome just like that!
Your Hei Hei looks great too. Kona has come pretty far in designing the color scheme on their bikes. The Konas from three or four years ago look silly with their wacky colors.

My latest project: a 2001 Lava Dome frame with mostly all new components. A handbuilt stans/dt swiss 340 wheelset. XT 10 speed 1 x 10, X fusion 100mm fork, king headset, Kona bits and a Fizik saddle. It is really fun and smooth.
