Do you have a manual disc in the front with a hydraulic disc in the rear? Does it feel weird or do you even notice it.

Nice bike and you are lucky you have a Thompson post!

Yea only hydro in the back. I don't use the front that often and I don't want to go over the bars so they stay manual.

It is an Avid 7 with a Danger Boy Lever. I had it on my other bike and just left it.

I ride a coiler 07, my do it all bike. Hope this bike doesn't get stolen too. As a some advice get a good lock... but beware some locks, the can still be used and not prevent a theft.

My brand spanking new(to me) 08 Dawg Deluxe. I love the way this bike rides, its so plush and about the same weight as my hardtail! Yea I upgraded from a GF Wahoo Disc, a big upgrade and I have no remorse. I've only been able to ride on the road since its still cold and snowy outside. Anyways, less talk more bike porn!

    thanks!

the outlaws have been great so for, only issue was they were a bit out of round out of the box but apparently that's pretty common, but i had them trued up after a couple of rides and there great, I've hit some pretty big stuff and had no problems

    My '07 Dawg

Jason here from Oxford in the UK. This is my Dawg - I've had it for a month and I got a great deal on it. This is my second Kona, my first was a 2003 NuNu and it was a brilliant bike. I sold it to my closest friend to part finance this one; I know he will take care of it and have a lot of fun. For now my Dawg is stock exept for the Azonic bars and stem, Lizard Skins grips, NS Pancakes and Brave Pogo seatclamp (formerly 24 Bikes Cockring). I just can't tell you how much I love this bike!!
    Cheers
    Jas.

Hi, long time Kona rider (although most of my new bikes are Norcos ) I had a '97 Kilauea before I got a sponsored grassroots racer deal through my lbs for a 1998 Hei Hei King Kahuna. Over the years I have replaced the handlebars (oem where 400 gram + DH bars) pedals, tires (god I hated the break and enter tires) and two rims. Still rides as good as the first day on the trails. I have it Weight Wennied to a touch under 24 pounds, and that's with the original Atom Bomb Fork.

Here is my 2008 Kona Hei Hei. So far I added eggbeater SL pedals, and have a KCNC seat post on order. My goal is to trim a pound or more by replacing simple bolt on stuff. \

Hi, UK rider here, first Kona in 1994, most recent- last month.
Latest first is a Kona Leroi frame (2006) built up with Magura forks, mainly XT and RaceFace Deus contact points.

Second bike is 1996 Kilauea - until recently my main bike, and it is about to be stripped down, and resprayed and new decals in custome Kona paint scheme!

Third bike was my first Kona, and from what I can tell the first Kilauea - 1993. This has been sat in a shed for far too long (too big for me at 19" frame).

Yeah, I got the frame off ebay. Its a 23". I built it up with all XT stuff off of my 26er, Kona P2 fork, and Bontrager Rhythm wheels. When its closer to race season I will get lighter wheels, suspension fork, and possibly a 2x9 setup.

I posted this before but its now finished (every time I think that I wind up upgrading something else though).

19" frame 28.5 lbs, extremely fun ride. I am very happy with this bike and would recommend it to anybody.

    2009 Kona Hei 2-9 Deluxe

This was taken at the Kona 24 Hours In The Old Peublo. Awesome Bike that performed "like buttah". A few upgrades include American Classic Discs running tubeless, Crank Bros headset and skewers, Ergon Grips, Jagwire Ripcord Cables. Size is 18 inches.

This was taken on the 50 year trail in Tucson, last weekend

I took off the 44 tooth and swapped in single speed bolts. I never use the 44tooth and now I have tons of clearance.

posted a few pages back... but changed a lot on the bike since new fork/wheelset and a lot of other parts. replaced the fork, wheelset, headset, pedals, seat, grips, rear Derailleur, chainguide

my GF just got into riding and we picked here up and entry level bike. not gonna change much on it, put new pedals onto replace the sh*t ones that came with it, and new brake/shifter lines just for color accents.

Hello, my name is Jason, I'm 40, and I just got a Lana'i to get more active this summer. I have to enjoy the mountains I live near somehow if I don't ski, right?

I think this is only the second or maybe third Lana'i in the thread. Its a 2003 and is all stock for the moment.

The newly built rig. Finished last weekend, took it to the mountain yesterday to try it it. Rides buttery smooth and very flickable, just need a heavier rear spring and it'll be dialed.

07 stinky Garbanzo Guide 66 (whistler park guide frame)
    Marz ROCO world cup
    06 Marz 66 VF2
RaceFace Evolve DH cranks (36T W/ E13 bash)
    Kona wah wah pedals
    Singletracs
    Hayes 9's
    XT rear der

Thats about it of importance, now for the pics

Yo...new to the Kona boards. I stick to the Jamis, AllMountain, and LightsDIY forums.

Just picked up one of the "blow-out" Five-O frames and plan to build it up, so I'm introducing myself.

I'm hoping to spec it out like this:

    FSA Orbit Z headset
    Easton Havoc 65mm stem
    Easton EA70 HiRise OS bars
    GD post
    WTB Rocket-V
    XT shifters
    SLX derailleurs
    XT brakes 7"/8"
    Saint Crankset
DeeTraxx ...or 729's on a sealed hub...Hope's maybe...$$$ will dictate.
    2.5" Excavators
    I'm torn on pedals.
I get my boards at Lux-RC.com

    1993 Kona Kilauea

Steve here, a bit of an oldschool bike here, mountain bike magazines bike of the year for 1993 the Kona Kilauea. I ride in Canada currently Nova Scotia. I am considering throwing front suspension but hesitate to as many have suggested I will throw of angles and ruin the bike. http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/vie...c843393e5c5665 I am unsure if I got the pic, but heres a link to a bunch and discussion on the bike.

Annoyingly large picture I don't feel like resizing. It's a stock Kona one20 in the early fall season.

I ride alone so I don't have many pictures, but I just got a brand new Kona Unit to play with also. Haven't gotten to take it out yet, though. Work.

I'm new here, and so is my bike. I just bought it a few days ago and I'm using it as a temporary commuter until my old bike gets here so I had to put the fenders on it because of the slush. But it's a beast, I love it more than my old hei hei.

Specs are all factory for now.

Just bought my '10 CinderCone a few months back. I'm highly computer illiterate, so I hope this picture actually makes it on the page. Bike is stock except for the Kona Wah Wah pedals and ODI Lock on grips (which were not yet on it when I took this picture).

Just picked her up this week. Swapped the tires for some more pavement friendly Crossroads Elites, and got some better grips, but otherwise stock.

So, since this is my first Kona, my first SS, and my first 29er I'm a little confused...am I supposed to hang with the cool kids here on the Kona bbd, the animals on the SS forum, or the lunatics on the 29er forum??

Heres my '08 Coilair. Like many others here, Im addicted as well. I ride her to work with a set of extra rims and street tires and I take her out in the hills almost every day. She does EVERYTHING. Climbs like a billy goat with the magiclink and downhills like she was born to. Slightly modified from her original state with new rims, hub, rear shock, seatpost, bars, front and rear derailleurs and SRAM gripshifts. I just cant get enough.

Hey chumbox! (I feel anxious when I say your name but I don't know why.)

That's the bike I test rode today. Except 2010 model.

What you like most about it. Also what you like least! (Which might be hard to do).

I won't say my opinion until you tell me yours. Not because mine is of any value, (it's not - still newbie), but because I don't want to adulterate your line of thought.

    cheers
Spent too much time on this...
