Paging Joe Kona - sizing on 05 Dawg Deluxe

    Joe,

I rode an 18" Kikapu and the toptube lenght felt about right.
Probalby going to order an 05 Dawg but not sure about top tube length.
    (I have 30" inseam, 5' 8" tall)

shop said Kona said no change at all but specs in the catalog shows 23.1 top tube for a 17"?

    thanks

The '05 catalog shows the 17" Dawg Matic has a 23.1" TT.

The 17" Dawg DL (and all other Dawgs) TT is 23.4".

    My experience

I just test roda a 17" Dawg and it felt perfect for me, 5'7" and a 29-30" inseam. The seat post still had a couple inches left to go. I like a tad bit larger frame than one would specify for me as well. I would think the 17 to be the right fit for you. Try to ride one if you can though.

I'm still p*ssed that a 03 Dawg 15 inch actually measured 14 iches to the top of the seattube, couldn't get full extension even with a 400mm post.Lost money on that ride.

Nothing really to add to this particular thread though...

How long is your inseam? You should have been able to get the saddle high enough for some one with 37-38" inseam. You would then have to have a REALLY short torso for the TT to be the right length. Very tall stem, too.

I don't think yer math is right there,For proper bike fit I ride a 17" frame, with a 23" toptube, but having owned a bike that had a 22" toptube for awhile(the Stinky Primo at the top of the "show your Kona's" thread) I have decided that I like a shorter toptube for technical handling.
If you look at the Chute (it's a 17")in the above mentioned thread that is how high my seat needs to be,works ok with a 350mm post, about 15mm before "max height" line, now if you need 75mm more post due to shorter seattube it doesn't add up.I did figure out how to have fun on the bike, converted it to a big BMXer,everyone that rode it just absolutely loved it for street riding. But,when the taxman came ringing last year it was the first to go due to it's limited versitility.
Ended up selling the Stinky also, only have the Chute and haven't been much of a biker this past year.
When I get done spending money on my Mustang,Jeep, and Unimog I like to tell myself I'll get a new bike,I dunno
P.S.2004 Coiler would've been the perfect bike for me.
