    Honzo sizing help

    Hey all,

I am helping a buddy get back into dirt riding. He is going to order a Honzo plus from a local shop. The only issue is they have none in stock and are sold out of their sizing run on Kona's.

He is 6'3" and about 260 lbs. He has fairly short legs for his height with a ~32" inseam.

I think he needs to get a large based on comparing the top tube, stack, and reach numbers for the other bikes he tried and liked. They all came back almost spot on with a large Honzo.

Do you think a large would fit him well?

    Thanks for the help!

I'm 6'2, 240 with a 32 inseam and I ride an XL but my reach is a little longer than average. The Large will fit him fine.

Thanks for the quick reply, ShutterRiot!

I think he could fit either, and the XL wheelbase at ~48" is nutty to me. We are in Indiana and our trails can get tight at times. I thought my Ripley LS with a ~46" wheelbase was long.

Do you think XL would fit him better?

Im not sure. It's a pretty big jump in reach/wheelbase form L to XL. It really depends on what he wants. I like a longer TT with a really short stem. I have the steel version with sliding rear dropouts and they are slammed as far forward as possible so it helps the wheelbase a bit.

He should be on an XL IMO. With short legs he can lower the saddle a little on the XL, but the stack and reach will still be correct for his size. I'm 6'3" and I tried a couple large frames in the past, never again. Now I have 21" and 22" frames and am much happier, and I still run 80-100mm stems so I could handle an even bigger frame.

    "Fully rigid" isn't a thing.
