2016 Process 153, shock upgrade advise

    Hey All,

Looking to upgrade the stock monarch shock w/ a fox dhx2 coil.

Has anyone had bad experiences with this?

I've read a couple sources say there could be bottom out issues w/ the consistent (linear?) leverage curve of the frame design. Another source commented on issues w/ the mid stroke.

Did you get a little stiffer spring?

Or should I be looking at the float x2?

Looking for the best performance for freeride/jumps/chunk. Not a speed racer, mostly look for fun lines.

    Thanks

Don't you wish you could do a back-to-back comparison? It kills me to buy one while not being sure which would work better for me. When mine failed I choked and rebuilt because of that dilemma.
    oops I wasn't clipped in

    Totally agree.

I do live near Santa Cruz/Scotts Valley - but I haven't heard of Fox doing demos on these.

Do people usually buy 2 different springs/rate, and return the one they don't like? Or once you throw it on your rig to test, your stuck, and have to flip it on pinkbike?

I will be going through my LBS.

has anyone tried both? Which did you stick with?

the more I read, has me leaning towards the x2/air. Think I am interested in trading that super plush small bump of the coil, for the more playful/responsiveness of the air.

    thoughts?

Most places don't accept returns on used parts. Some people end up with many coil steel springs.
