2011 Kona Hei Hei 29 FORK question
Hi, just thought I'd pick the Kona crowds brain. I have a 2011 Hei Hei SE 19" frame on its way... going to be my first frame build. My question is, has anyone used a G2 (51mm) offset fork on a Hei Hei... or any other Kona 29er? I noticed on their site the fork offset spec is for a 44mm. My last bike was a Trek/Fisher X-Cal 29er, so I liked the 51mm offset, and I noticed X-cals headtube angle is 69.3, the Hei Hei is 70... am I correct to assume a 51mm offset would put me at a similar "trail" spec as the X-cal?
Come on... someone's gotta know this... winner gets REP POINTS!!! : )
Yes, it would get you to around the same trail spec.
I would say to try a standard fork if you could, you might like it more or just as good. Unless you are keeping the original fork?
The new frame is tapered so I'm looking to get a tapered, with 15mm axle as well... just noticed quiet a few listings on ebay of fox forks with the G2 offset. I'm sure it would be very similar, was just hoping to hear from someone who actually had that set-up.... either way it always ends up being personal preference anyway right?
