What do you do when bored?

My wife watches entertainment tonight. This means my nightly trip into my man cave/garage.
I almost have all the items needed to do the switch to 10 speed. Looking at the gray Blackspire defender chain guard for my 2x10, I had a notion. Make it look purrrdy.

A flapp-flapp sander to remove the anodizing, drill bits for holes, and a polishing wheel.
All done with a cordless drill.
I think that it looks better and is now a one off.

What do you tinker with when bored/ exiled to the cave?

Does that fit on the spider with a standard 26-39 or is that the spider used for the 24/38 option?

This is for the minority out there cause I know that I am not the only one who runs Grip Shift.

The length of the grips that Avid sends with the 10 speed shifters is way long but a good idea nun the less.
Reviewers say that they can not be cut down...guess what!
I was running ODI rouge grips cut down to fit my 10 speed shifters.
Had the OEM grips that came with the Grip Shifts, so why not try to make them work?
If I mangle them then no big deal cause I'm not using them any way.

I have been running this mod for the last month or two with no problems.

Not a computer guy, could not figure out how to properly set this up.

Pic order:

1) Before & after
2) Transfer where the groves are onto the grips
3) Cut down grip (I did 20mm)
4) measure to cut the grove depth
5) Cut groves
6) Cut the rubber around the grip to the plastic
7) Cut off the excess rubber
8) How it should look after excess rubber cut away
9) The grip plastic is thinner where it is cut down to so the lock ring has to be trimmed so as not to bind
10) Tighten onto bar to make sure that enough has been trimmed off of the lock ring
11)Careful to not trim off too much out of the plastic, just enough so the lock ring is snug on to the grip
12) Before & after with the 20mm piece that I trimmed out
