    Knolly Laguna tour sat 1/11

Hey all. So there has been alot of request for a laguna tour so im putting one on. I hope the date works but We can always change it or do a second one. Prepare for some chunk, flow and tech. Lots of good trails. Ride should be 20 to 30 miles with 4 to 5k climbing no drop pace. If thats too much pm me and I can give you a smaller tour. I'm trying to host a big one to make it worthwhile for those that drive down. The trails are worth it. I will update the meetup spot in a couple of days after I finalize the route. Who's in!

    Mo

30 miles in Laguna is a pain train! The 14 mile loop we do is like 3.5k vert IIRC.

I'd like to glom on over to check out some knolly's in person if that's OK. Sick now but should be good enough by the 11th for 20 miles @ no drop pace haha.

I don't live in the area (not even close), but will be visiting occasionally with my son living in Fullerton now, so I'll keep that offer in mind. I enjoyed my tour of Aliso with Dusty last week and would love to explore some more of that. Good stuff.

I might be interested. I live nearby in San Diego. I have a friend who is organizing a group ride at Palm Canyon the same day. I'll probably do that ride unless it's subfreezing up top.

I'll tag along with my new Avy'd CTD with an RP23 spacer in it. That could explain the clacking sound, btw. That or the broken bushing Craig found. BTW, Mo's numbers are a little ambitious for Aliso and LCWP. The climbing is pretty steep, so I'll be bailing out after about 3200' Luckily, I live here.

I would prefer the 18th. This Saturday is Mom's bday, + it's the first Fontana race event(which I may or may not attend). If we can do the 18th I can probably bring a medium and large Warden, which is NOT an option on the 11th.

San Juan is kinda boring unless you add Chiquito. Keep it a Laguna Tour - as advertised.

If enough of my buddies are doing trailwork I won't feel bad about ditching and showing up for the ride on the 18th! We'll see!

lol san juan borring??? You guys are crazy. There a spiritual flow on that trail at high speeds. You become one with the trail. I'd be the first one to volunteer some santa ana knar such as yeager, joplins, smashface or coldwater but im sure old man Chris would come up with some complaint Either way, laguna/aliso saturday the 18th. this weekend well have some fun either locally or in the forest

I might be good with the 18th if my shoulder heals up, had an OTB the other day. That's IF a former Knolly owner, current Banshee Rune owner, future Knolly owner is welcome???

Although I didn't ride with the other 3 (Tweasol, Steammachine and Me and My Bike) our paths merged on a few occasions for a blinding display of bright colors, false bravado and smartass remarks. I am saving myself for the official Knolly ride next weekend. Let the training begin!

Josh - I think Mo has ridden Telonics before.

Sorry to hear about your Repo Man encounter. I have yet to do that trail, but I'm guessing I will tick that off soon enough. The ride last Saturday was just a warm up. This Saturday is supposed to be the Knolly ride. I blew up my back Sunday, so I am iffy for this Saturday. Shut up Mo - before you say anything.

It was a stupid mistake. The final chute had a ton of work on it 3-4 weeks ago and had turned into a near joke (compared to dry, summer conditions).

The trail has been ridden hard over the last few weeks (note the KOM changing every 5 mins) and is back to near summer status (dry, eroded). I came in waaay too hot thinking to lower my 2:09 PR and found a fat rock in the rut right before the berm left. Instead of going OTB I managed to slide the front and wash out on the uphill side. Rear tire ripped my inside right thigh and some scrapes on my left arm, otherwise OK.

Aside from that, I'm happy w/ the run. I'd PRd it on a Kona process 134, and this was my first 'fast' run on my 100mm anthem. Minus the accident and ranger scout near the top it would have been about a 2:10-15 on an XC bike.

Nice, sounds like the crash wasn't too bad... Don't let the strava times get you killed!!

I actually find that chute way easier to ride the way it is now vs. before the trail work on it, it was pretty gnar before now it's a lot easier

I will be riding tomorrow (Saturday 1/18), but my time constraints and semi-recurring back problems will limit me to a less-than-epic tour. If anyone wants to join me for a moderate tour of ordinary Aliso trails (a selection of some but not all: 5-Oaks, Rock-It, Lynx, Meadows, Car Wreck), you're more than welcome. I will be lucky to get in about 2200' of climbing (maybe three climbs and three descents). I'll shoot for 8am at the main park entrance off Alicia. If Steammachine or Tweasol have more time/energy, they can lead something and I'll tag along until I can't.

Is there any chance you guys might want to run something next weekend? I'm in the market for a bike, the Warden being the top of the 'splurge' list, but it's pretty tough to see Knolly's in person, let alone a Warden for obvious reasons. I saw one dude on SJT a month-ish ago and that's literally the only one I've ever seen in person

I'd love to tag along on this, my only problem is my GF is going in for surgery beginning of February which means my riding is going to be cut waaaay back for the first few weeks of that month.

Send me a PM and perhaps we can set-up a private Warden demo, whether that be a parking lot spin or something more substantial. Where do you live?

If you were the one that stopped half way up to say hi to us, I was the guy who asked if you liked your bike I don't recall what color the bike was of the gentleman I spoke with though.

That could have been me. I had such a conversation with some blokes on the SJT about that time, and I think I gave a smartass reply like "who doesn't say "I love it" when you ask them that question?" I realized I might have come off a bit snotty when I said that. If in fact that was me - I was on a blue Endorphin and I love my bike.
