Lets see a 29 lb. Chili!
I'm thinking with some planning and carbon that this is possible with a large frame. Seeing alot of them right at 31-32 lbs with stout tires & wheels. Somebody needs to throw on some carbon wheels, carbon cranks & bars, lighter tires, RP23 w/ a Fox Float 160 RLC. I'm throwing the challenge out there.

I don't think I will make it since mine is coming with an CCDB Air, and I will be using a Reverb. But, I will weigh it up with another seatpost first and see what she weighs. It should be fairly close as I have the ENVE bars and SIXC cranks. Ironically the Hans Dampf tires seem to run +/- 75g, so maybe I will get 'lucky' with a lighter pair.

It wouldn't be hard. Just using mine as an example, I could lose about a 1/4 lbs in handlebars, a 1/2 lb going to XTR or SixC cranks, and maybe a 1/2 lb going to an RP23? That'd be 30.5 or there abouts right there.

And who knows with lighter tires?

My wheelset weighs 1953g as well, so not exactly super light.

The American Classic AM Tubeless wheels I put on my new El Guapo were 1580 grams w/ the 20mm front hub, thats another pound. The Float 160 RLC is right about 4.5 lbs, I'm not sure what the RS forks weigh. I think 29 lbs is totally feasible and it wouldnt be a weight weenie build either.

That's what I was thinking. If I can get my DT down to 33.6lbs then a sub 30 chili should be relatively easy with out going too crazy.

For the sake of science if somebody wants to send me a medium chili frame I am willing to move the parts over and demonstrate. :cornut:

Calculated my build on my spreadsheet (LOL) and it should be 31.29 lbs with a Kronolog seat post. I actually thought it would be under 30 lbs, but then I added the tires and the missing pedals. :arf:

My large El Guapo weighs 28.6 with a Monarch RT3, frame weight was 6.86 lbs with the shock. Has anybody weighed a large ano or raw with a RP23? I saw a large ano with CCDB air at 8.13 so I am guessing 7.5 lbs with a RP23? So just swapping parts off my EG would be around 29.3 lbs.

My spreadsheet says mine will be 30.5 lbs with a chain guide, 1x10 (32t), Lyrik tapered DH 170 air, and stout wheels (but with a Thomson post). All the parts were weighed including cable housing. I can see a dropper post adding a fair bit of weight that a carbon credit would offset.
My February frame has been delayed another 2 weeks so please think of me when you are all riding as I have just cancelled a big road trip.

Mine is installed now (KS i950). I need to weigh the bike again and see where it is.

I'm seeing a few guys with the Point One Podium pedals. I've been eyeballing those (drooling over, more like it) online for quite some time, but it's hard to pull the trigger on the price knowing the abuse that they're going to take, especially on our terrain here in AZ.

Hey Dusty, was thinking about a Kronolog but have heard that part of the seatclamp is actually made out of plastic? Can you confirm?

Nice looking bike! I never would have thought about using orange but it looks great now that I see it on a build.

    I'm going with Shimano brakes.

Is the frame brake mount IS 51mm?

For the frame, do I need to worry about the QR versions of the brake adapters or is that only for forks running IS?

    My latest build:

I plan to swap out to some 819 hoops and put more summer appropriate tires in the next week or two. My muddy Mary's were squirming all over the place on our jump trails the past week or so. That should also help drop a pound or two.

I've been regularly jumping and beating the hell out of this bike since October and firmly believe that if you can only have one bike, this is a damn good one to own. If I were taking a trip somewhere and could only bring one bike, I'd feel fully confident bringing the Chilcotin.

    Frame: Medium White Chilcotin
    Fork: Talas 36 RC2 (2009 with 2011 internals)
    Headset: CC ZS
Wheels - Hope Pro 2 on Mavic 823's
Seatpost - KS supernatural 6" drop
    Saddle - Transition AM saddle
    Seatclamp- Hope
    Stem - Thomson 50mm
    Grips - Odi Ruffians
Bars - Kore Torsion bars (29.5")
Brakes - Avid XO (185mm front 160mm rear)
Drivetrain: 2x10 - mix of XO, X9, X7 with XT front der. and cassette (11-36)
    Cranks - Truvativ XO (26-38)
    Guide - MRP 2x
Tires - 2.35 Muddy Mary's (about to swap out to a summer tire)
Weight - 34 lbs. on the nose

Any idea on how long your derailleur cable runs were? I'm looking at a new product by Gore but it comes in only 1900mm front and 2200mm rear lengths.
