    Really? Isn't that a big jump in ring sizes to shift well?

    My old 22-36 set-up was pretty slow and I needed the front derail. setup perfectly.

    So far, it's working as advertised.

    I've had all the gear range I've needed for climbing or descending. Shifting is quick and precise.

    Yesterday, we rode down National and Geronimo on South Mountain in Phoenix. Fast, rocky gnar, lots of small drops. There was no noise from the drivetrain, and the chain stayed on perfectly.

    I did hit the chainring on rocks a few times, making me wonder if I'll want a bash guard of some sort, even though it seems I won't need a chain guide. Those chainrings are expensive.

    Q factor is 168.

    Does the Chilcotin come with a Quick Release for the seatpost as standard equipment?

    Not sure. The odd 76mm BCD on XX1 means most of the standard bash ring options like the Gamut I usually use won't fit.

    Nope, not that I know of. Just get a Chromag QR and call it good.

    The only bash guard with no guides I know of is the MRP XCG.

    First off, the chromag one is nice, esp if you will keep a QR clamp with a dropper, as it has an allen that you can be sure to torque to specc.

    Secondly, my buddy's new Transition came with a non-QR clamp that has a nifty little cable-router for the dropper post. Pretty cool little bit, saves you from having to zip-tie on a routing guide.

    there is a thread in Drive train called MRP AMG you might want to take a look at. It might work for your xx1

    I got the rear shock in yesterday as well as the fork. I have about 30min of ride time so no meaningful reports yet but it feels lively. The air setup is nice but I can already tell I dont think I will be going back.

    Yep, thinking about selling my RP23. No desire to put it back on the bike, even for XC pedally stuff.

    Welcome to the Avy club!!! I'm confident you will really love the Avy'd shock. (I remember trying to talking you into going Avy and bypassing your old shock.) After a few rides you can join me and the others trying to convince people that an Avy'd shock is the way to go!

    YMMV, but I found the Avy'd shock super-easy to dial in (and figure out). One or two clicks on a dial changes things so noticeably that even I (an insensitive lug) "mastered" tuning the Avy'd shock. Now I can adjust the shock on fly (it only takes one or two clicks) to optimize it for climbing or descending. (I'm not a set-and-forget type person.)

    You'll also learn why some of us support Avalanche Racing Products with such passion. (Craig is a great guy with a great product.) At first, I really wondered if some of our fellow posters were "paid pumpers" (i.e. received a kick-back for endorsing Avy), but I have learned differently--it has cost me a hell of a lot of money to become an "Avy Advocate".

    Yes, I need much more time on it but initial impressions are good. The fork will be going to avy as well. 2013 season is gonna be awesome!

    Do yourself a favor and remove the lower roller on your chainguide. With a clutch derailleur it is unnecessary.
