    GXP BB - Chilcotin

Any suggestions on how to stop my stock GXP BB (came with sram x0 2x10 crankset) from getting dirt inside?

After a while the damn thing creaks when pedalling and ive had it off to clean it twice in 2 months (im riding for about 3-4 hours, 4-5 times a week). Cleaning it and regreasing works and silences it but the harsh wet / dry conditions here mean it doesnt hold out the dirt for very long. Makes me think it wont last long either because of this.

I was thinking about swapping this BB out (and keeping it as a spare)...anyone suggest a better BB with good seals / durabilty ?

i run a converted hope bb on my chromag stylus,

had it a few year now never touched the bearings on it it still smooth..

had the bb on my pace rc 305 before i got the chromag, i converted in jan last year when i got a truvativ noir carbon crank (cheap off evans)

i had the hope bb since mid 2011 it stood up to uk winters and wet summers, riding places like the stanes north wales the lakes around the penine moors.

you can also replace the bearings in them if need be..

I had the similar issues with a GXP BB on my delirium, the thing was a pile of junk, ended up swapping it for a Hope BB and bought the adaptor cup things so it'd work with the cranks, no creaks or problems for the last year or so since fitting it.

As for the hope bb they are real easy to convert . I only paid around 7or8 quid for the converter adapter thing.

I am running an Enduro bottom bracket. I had one on my DT that lasted several years. I opted for the ceramic XD-15 but have found there standard bottom brackets to be excelent. The instructions and web videos are marginal but a ton of spacers were included and I like the rubber coated metal end caps they use.

ive ordered the hope and the converters, if i hadnt done it already it'd be sorely tempted by the ceramic XD-15, i forgot they were out there!

I know this has been said before but I recently went through my Chilcotin & found moisture in the BB that I'm sure came from the bottle cage mounting holes. If your not running a cage I'd suggest plugs or bolts with Teflon tape to maybe help with contamination.
