Finally got the 2013 Marz55R on :) ( Avy Kit coming soon )

** UPDATE : Got the 2013 55R on , feels really good and plush . Love that it has coil + air so i can run it super plush or stiffen it up if needed. Going to take it out for a spin this weekend to get the fork broken in first before i set it up with the Avy kit . Downhill season is next month in May so thats going to take up some time but cant wait to see how it feels on my local trails compared to the burly 66 i have . Heres a few pictures :

So , the Marz66 is killing me on my local climbs and tight singel tracks lol , i went ahead and pulled the trigger on the new Marz 55r , spoke with Craig @ Avy and he will be doing a nice custom kit for me ! I was trying to find some 55's for sale but couldnt find anything at all ..

Pretty stoked for it to come in , and for what its worth ill have a nice REAL fork compared to the nonsense hyped up forks out there for about the same price . I was thinking of buying a new Fox Float or Talas but for the price why have a honda civic when i can have a ferrari haha .

Sounds lilie a good plan ...the 2013 55's seem to be in short supply, where did you buy it?

Also will you need a RC3 rebound cap, if so where would you get one of these readily?

Picked it up from JensonUSA , and ordered the RC3 rebound cap directly from Marzz. From 09-13 the caps are the same just prob different colors .

Were you running an internal or external cup headset on the 66?

External cup , i mean it rides great but for the local climbs and tight sections its def tough .. Im going to keep the 66 on the side and use the new 55 for all my local trail riding .

Hey east coaster. This was meant in fun as I know aedubber and I'm probably jealous that he has more disposable income than me. But I'll still kick his ass on my Fox 36 Civic.

That fork would look so badass sans stickers.

So do you specifically what Craig has to do to kit for the 55R, versus the 55 RC3 Ti kits that a few of us have?

Agreed though, fork looks better without the stickers.

His rc3 kit goes right into this one I just had to order the cap and knobs from a RC3 fork which was like 70 bucks shipped to me . So whatever Avyd kit is in your 55 , it will be in mine .

Part of the problem Craig had with my older model is that I only bought the one knob and that it's only a 160 mm travel. I think that's why he is having people buy both knobs.

I'm jones'n to take it out, but there is no place locally to ride and my trip to So UT keeps getting pushed back.

$70 for the knobs??? Both sides at least I hope? Pricey knobs, sheesh.

Does your 55R have a ti spring? Not very familiar with that model.

You are going to love your fork though. Cheezwhip and I pretty much comment on ours on every ride on just how well it rides.

Only the RC3 model has the full-length TI spring. All the rest of the 55s are air. (Any of the others that say TI in the title only have a TI negative spring.)

No the fork is a Coil fork but it also has an air preload . It only comes with Rebound adjustment and thats it . But in order for the Avy Kit to work from Craig , i needed these 3 items that are from the RC3 marz fork .

So when i get Craig's kit installed , i will now have all the settings available to me that you guys have from his kit . So on a once 55R only fork ill have the top of the line fork

Oh ok gotcha. Are you going to send it to Craig to let him do the install, or do it yourself?

Either myself or my buddy, but since downhill season is coming up i dont know exactly when i will get to it . I know a lot of people been wanting the 55 forks and they been a PITA to source , so i figured i could shine some light for future buyers. Rather then spending all that money on a RC3 ,FOX , or RS you can go this route and for the same price or maybe cheaper you can get the " BEST " fully tuned custom setup .

Sorry for being confusing. Marz doesn't make it easy (e.g. 55CR is air while the 66CR is coil). To get the real information on if a fork is air or coil often requires a trip into the manual. The highlighted columns are the 2013 coil forks.

    Got a 2013 marzocchi 55 R on order :) & hopefully Avy'd soon too !-2013-marz-55-spring-info.jpg

Note: I left out the those listed after the 55 series.
