Hey Ride Everything,
When you pulled your shock out you re-installed it upside down. Flip that baby over!
P.S. I love all of this bike porn. I got a chance to take a 2010 blue delirium with vivid/ Float 170/ xt brakes/ slx cranks and some other trick bits out for a spin today on Fromme in North Vancouver. Soooo much fun! If I didn't already have a Podium and was lined up for a endorphin I would get one asap.

... because it doesn't fit with your aesthetics of how the bike should look?
Remember I'm a tall person with a big bike (XL) so I can put that shock in there any way I please.

It lowers the centre of gravity the other way round, not by much, but that's the reason everyone else runs it that way

Oh, and I thought it was because the smaller frames couldn't accommodate the piggyback in the upwards position because the shock would come in contact with the frame.
As for lowering the centre of gravity by, possibly, a few grams - ...
*edit*

I'm almost done building up my Delirium. For the guys running an RC4, what would you suggest is a good starting tune for the LSC, HSC and rebound? I'm thinking maybe just 4 clicks of HSC with LSC and rebound somewhere in the middle. Also, what's strange is I'm only getting 10mm sag with my shock set at no preload. I'm using a 350lb spring and I weigh 140lbs. With my gear on I would probably get another 1-2mm of sag but that's it. Knolly recommends the 350lb. spring for my weight as well.

Just curious. What size should I be looking at at 6' with a 32" inseam?

any review?
I don't know which one could fit better between Delirium and Podium for bike park, light dh, free ride? I'm afraid that the podium is too much a dh race and probably too much for me (my jump and drops are 5/6 feet no more)
thanks

I`m the same height and have the same inseam and I ride a medium. I could easily ride a large, we are between sizes. However I like the medium for the riding I do and am not too stretched out. I run a 410mm seatpost and get more than full leg extension.

The podium is a DH race bike. Its a handful when being ridden slow. You need to be riding fast to really appreciate a Podium. I have both a Delirium and a Podium and I would lean towards the Delirium for what you have described. The Podium is low! Even with 165mm cranks I hit my pedals fairly often when riding the North Shore.

I`ve ridden the original DT, a preproduction Delirium and now have a few months on the Delirium. I`ve got mine setup with light parts, DHX air and a Talas 160. It weighs 33.5lbs
The bike climbs very well. The level of traction when climbing tech uphills is quite impressive. Little to no suspension bob is the norm, however I do generally flick the Propedal on for extended climbs.
The Delirium is not a dedicated all mountain machine, and thus it does have some extra beef (read weight) on board to enable you to do large drops and rip bike parks without destroying the frame. The adjustable HA is a nice feature. I`ve got mine in the slack position which gives about a 66 deg HA and a 13.75 in bb ht.
With a coil shock, this bike would destroy all but the most difficult trails in bike parks. I`m on the fence for a Chilcotin in the spring, but with the trails I`ve been taking this bike on I may be better off with my current setup.

The Delirium no question. Like others have said the Podium is a dedicated DH racing bike. I've never ridden one but just by looking at the geometry and design you can tell that it will fly and gobble up stuff. The Delirium is designed to be more snappy and flick-able yet still take some good abuse. I've been riding my Delirium all season as my main rig. When I hit the lifts I throw on some DH tires and soften up the shocks a little bit. I've been able to hit some pretty big stuff with this bike and I have not come close to reaching it's limit. 5/6' drops are nothing for this bike. I've gone that big to flat and/or cased stuff way bigger than that.

I think it depends on your terrain. I use a 37 lb. Delirium as my all purpose bike and I love it. I live in the Boston area which has a ton of gnar on the majority of our trails. I also like hitting the parks but I don't do it enough to justify having a dedicated park bike. The bike is on the beefier side compared to what my buds ride but I'm the only one who isn't replacing frames all the time. I have pedaled this bike on multiple all day XC epics w/flats on and it's not ideal. I was happy on the downs but the longer ups got to me. If I were to ride that stuff constantly I'd shoot for a lesser/lighter bike but for the occasional epic it's just fine. I am planning on lightening up the bike a bit. I'm hoping to get it around 35lbs. w/o sacrificing big hit ability and suspension.
Another option is to beef up the new Chilcotin. I'm tempted to do that myself but I do love the Delirium so much right now and it would probably end up being only a couple of pounds lighter.

The Creamsicle!
So, I transferred all of the Mango/Orange bling from the Ano Black DT to the new White Delirium..... and the result is a Orange Creamsicle with a coating of Cayenne Pepper.
The guy I bought it from did an amazing job of packing the frame, so much so I had to post a picture of it. :D
The bike will have a Rock Shox Reverb on it come Friday and most likely the AVY Woodie, waiting on the correct reducers. However, the RC4 was a surprise. It felt great. I have yet to chek the sag but I couldn't feel anything on the parking lot test. Put fresh oil in Cragstr's favorite fork and it feels amazing, as it always has. The cockpit feels great. Can't wait to get it dirty.
-
That mango on white does look pretty sick.
-
I think it looks good!
I'll ignore the comments about the 66, you got lucky my friend. Better think of an alternate cable route method for the reverb, I read they dont come with a whole lot of hydraulic line. Now get your asses up here to ride on Friday!
-
Ha ha!

You liked that one!?
It is hydro, so it can go wherever. It doesn't need to have the swoop, but I'll look into it. Thanks! Hopefully.......hopefully Friday.
-
Bike looks sick Dominator! Time to get it dirty.
-
Me likes the Creamsickle Dom!
-
Dom
That is SWEET!!
Didn't think I would like the Mango on White.
I do...actually better than the Mango on Black-Ano.
( My Delirium is Red on White - will take some pix when the final parts arrive - Reverb etc )
BTW - Do you think the Woodie will mount Res-Up as we discussed?

Initial measurements, yes! We'll find out this afternoon when I get the reducers. Keep your fingers crossed. I am still curious about how good this RC4 feels...........I probably have 45% sag knowing how all of the other FOX shocks have felt. :D

Wow, sick build and color scheme ! Whats your spring wt and your body wt. ?

Have you ridden that bike w/ a 400# spring before trying the 350#? If so, how did it go?
-
I haven't ridden this bike, yet! Just aroudn the block so, no I haven't ridden it with a 400lb spring. It feels great with the 350.

-
Me likey!
I love the red!
Did you get that done by Knolly or somewhere else? And if somewhere else did you start with a raw frame?
I am also interested on your thoughts on how the 1x10 gearing rides. I have been looking into that recently, with the same gearing, and I'm not sure I would like losing my granny gear for where and how I ride (long sustained, sometimes, steep climbs).
-
I like the red too. But if you are going for ghetto street (nothing but the headbadge), you need to take those stickers off the FOX fork. I like it :)
-
It was originaly raw but i had the front powder coated by a local company and I polished the rear. I was able to save the head badge but the decals were toast. I was ridding a 1X9 for the longest time without any real problems getting up hills with the 34 in the rear but the 36 on the 10 spd cassette makes a big difference, a very low gear. Before i made the leap a couple of years ago i locked out my front derailure for a couple of rides to see if i could manage with just one ring up front.

Lovely bikes indeed!
I'm a little confused though - the medium frames, some have a top tube brace some don't. Is this to do with year? Pre 2010, the med's have no brace and thereafter they do? Can someone clarify this for me please.

Definitely like the looks of the Vivid Air. But being a heavy giant has me a little worried about committing to getting one.
I am also curious about your drive train set-up. I've been looking at the Hammerschmidt for a while now. How has it changed the way you ride?
Where and how do you ride? I ask because then I can compare to where and how I ride being that I'm on an XL Delriium.

well the hammerschmidt is so nice to have. it shifts whenever you want to shift even when you are not pedaling. and also the hammerschmidt will be in aligned with any teeth or the rear drivetrain. my set up for the hammerschmidt is 22 - 36. so lets say. i can be on a 22 T front and 36 t rear, to a 36 T front and 36 T rear. any any combination in a flick of the front shifter.
i ride here in Orange County California. i'm a trail rider and do some technical downhill stuff. some shuttle runs and mammoth bike park stuff. nothing crazy though. coming from an endorphin, a 2 lb penalty on climbs is worth it with the pay off on downhills

My Delirium:

40 pounds of bling in action:

-
Hehe - it is well ridden and loved...
Actually, I have been washing it more, just not as much as you and Dom:)! I wash it when the dirt is a bit sandy and I can hear the drivetrain crunching.
Pictures were taken today with the droid camera;)! I didn't place the phone in my bag - duh - there would have been some epic shots in the sunlight piercing through the redwoods and illuminating the misty steam.
I figured I would change it up a bit and post of picture of a dirty delirium in the build thread.
Fertilizer - girlfriend loves to garden - flowers and fresh veggies. I better build my dirt jump before it becomes a flower bed;)!!!

When do we see new models DT 2011?

Reminds me of my whole winter. Great looking Delirium. Those Arachnids look DEADLY! I know it's $, but yuou could reduce the chainslap by going to a small or medium cage RD. It might be a Med cage already, just looks long. Studly build!

Updates and pics
Decided to change out a few things...Put the black wheel set on the Delirium and the white set will go on the Endorphin SL. Pulled the 80mm stem and installed a 70mm. The 80 should work better on the SL. Also added Point One podium pedals in raw. Also swapped on a Chromag seat clamp and removed the Salsa. The Chromag is heavier but works better in muddy conditions.
Finally got a rare dry day and headed out to Sandy Ridge...
Edit: After spending some time on the 70mm stem I will go back to the 80mm. The 70mm stem makes it too difficult to loft the front end when I need to. The Point One pedals are very nice and grippy, but they are too wide for me. I keep sticking the edges of the pedals into things. I guess 15 years on skinny Speedplay pedals has me spoiled.

Damn JV, mighty fine steed. Think she is ready for Pajarito?

My new to me Delirium. Should look familiar, it is Force Yoda's old frame, somehow my pictures came out more orange. But it is definitely Red.
Also thanks to BrickBrick for letting me take a parking lot test of his medium. Had I not ridden it, I would have made a mistake and gotten a large!

This is the AM setup. I got a lot of strange looks riding a AM/FR bike today at our local XC trails in Charlotte, NC. This is rigid singlespeed 29er, kool aid drinking country!
I have a Totem Coil, CC Double Barrel (on its way) and I9 EN Rims laced to I9 Hubs with Maxxis tires for lift assisted or shuttle days.
I am glad I got a medium. It was surprising how well it rode on the cross country trails for being 64°! Fire road climbs were no problem even with the TALAS at 180. Steep techy uphills were a bear, but once I dropped the TALAS to 140 I made it with ease.
I am really, surprised at how well it does pedal. Now I need to get it to some proper downhill trails.

Out of curiosity, did you measure that HA or just assume thats what it was? I am going to be getting an angleset for mine as well and would like it to be around 64 degrees. It would save a lot of money if I only had to buy the 1 degree one instead of the other ones.
Im only asking because even in the slackest setting the bike is 65 degrees with a 180 fork and im not sure if they measured that with an external or internal headset. If the latter then the 1 degree Angleset would probably only net about a half degree.
-
I measured the HA with a triangle/slide rule that Pipe Fitters use for industrial piping. I wouldn't say that it is the absolute most nats a$$ accurate though. But it was reading just under 64 for me. I am also running two different size tires, front is a bit bigger than the back, that will alter it as well.
With that said, if you order direct from Cane Creek you can buy just the 1° or the 1.5° degree headset. That is what I did and it worked out well.
If you order just the top cap it is 23 bucks plus shipping. Your LBS should be able to do the same if they are worth a crap. Mine is not.
I would call Cane Creek.
Pay attention to the link you gave me when you install. It will save a lot of headache:madman:

How does the short cage handle that cassette range?

I have both a medium cage and short cage for my new delirium, was going to put the medium cage on but if the short cage can handle all the chain I might go with that.
-
no issues with the short cage...handles the whole range!
i'm very impressed with the monarch plus, if it gets any better with mileage the thing is just mindblowing. it was a first ride for me after a couple of months, and i was on a hardtail for a few rides before that, so this maybe the reason for the excitement...i'll have to go out on my coil delirium to get a reference point.

Still my favourite bike of all time. Rode it yesterday after being on my Jedi for a month in South Africa and I was blown away by how resonsive the Delerium felt. It is so plush when it needs to be, great BO and then almost no bob under power, even with 33% sag, amazing. Jumps and corners perfectly. The Jedi was great on the DH but really wallows under full power. Not a problem on DH to maintain speed but not fun pedalling to trails etc. Cant wait for the weekend, trail has been prepped and tweak. Photos were taken last year but I just never posted. Only real change is the seat, running a black Transition and I have an adjustable post few milage rides(dont use it much). New Blackspire Raw pedals fitted now. Also have a Lyrik solo air 160mm I picked up off CRC in 2009, crazy bargain. Doing the floodgate mod this week and will be dropping in a 170mm springkit, of coarse no grease in the seals but at least there was oil in it. This will be my backup fork cause even the Totem gets punished so the lyrik may be under gunned. WIll test it next week. Guess thats about it. The bike does all the talking in my house.
