Updates and pics

Decided to change out a few things...Put the black wheel set on the Delirium and the white set will go on the Endorphin SL. Pulled the 80mm stem and installed a 70mm. The 80 should work better on the SL. Also added Point One podium pedals in raw. Also swapped on a Chromag seat clamp and removed the Salsa. The Chromag is heavier but works better in muddy conditions.

Finally got a rare dry day and headed out to Sandy Ridge...

Edit: After spending some time on the 70mm stem I will go back to the 80mm. The 70mm stem makes it too difficult to loft the front end when I need to. The Point One pedals are very nice and grippy, but they are too wide for me. I keep sticking the edges of the pedals into things. I guess 15 years on skinny Speedplay pedals has me spoiled.

My new to me Delirium. Should look familiar, it is Force Yoda's old frame, somehow my pictures came out more orange. But it is definitely Red.

Also thanks to BrickBrick for letting me take a parking lot test of his medium. Had I not ridden it, I would have made a mistake and gotten a large!

Frame: Medium 2010 Delirium
Fork: Fox 36 RC2 180
Shock: Fox RP2
Wheels: Mavic 819 laced to I9 Enduro Hubs
Headset: Cane Creek Angelset 1°
Tires: Spec Captain
Brakes: Hayes Stroker Trail
Bar: Easton Havoc DH 750mm
Cranks: Shimano XT
Pedals: Crank Brothers Acid
Shifter: 1x10 Shimano XT
Front Chainring: 30 tooth Extralite, I have to pedal to get to the good stuff.
Cassette: XT 12-36
Seatpost: Thompson
Seat: WTB Rocket
Chainguide: LG 1+

This is the AM setup. I got a lot of strange looks riding a AM/FR bike today at our local XC trails in Charlotte, NC. This is rigid singlespeed 29er, kool aid drinking country!

I have a Totem Coil, CC Double Barrel (on its way) and I9 EN Rims laced to I9 Hubs with Maxxis tires for lift assisted or shuttle days.

I am glad I got a medium. It was surprising how well it rode on the cross country trails for being 64°! Fire road climbs were no problem even with the TALAS at 180. Steep techy uphills were a bear, but once I dropped the TALAS to 140 I made it with ease.

I am really, surprised at how well it does pedal. Now I need to get it to some proper downhill trails.

Out of curiosity, did you measure that HA or just assume thats what it was? I am going to be getting an angleset for mine as well and would like it to be around 64 degrees. It would save a lot of money if I only had to buy the 1 degree one instead of the other ones.

Im only asking because even in the slackest setting the bike is 65 degrees with a 180 fork and im not sure if they measured that with an external or internal headset. If the latter then the 1 degree Angleset would probably only net about a half degree.

I measured the HA with a triangle/slide rule that Pipe Fitters use for industrial piping. I wouldn't say that it is the absolute most nats a$$ accurate though. But it was reading just under 64 for me. I am also running two different size tires, front is a bit bigger than the back, that will alter it as well.

With that said, if you order direct from Cane Creek you can buy just the 1° or the 1.5° degree headset. That is what I did and it worked out well.

If you order just the top cap it is 23 bucks plus shipping. Your LBS should be able to do the same if they are worth a crap. Mine is not.

I would call Cane Creek.

Pay attention to the link you gave me when you install. It will save a lot of headache:madman:

How does the short cage handle that cassette range?

I have both a medium cage and short cage for my new delirium, was going to put the medium cage on but if the short cage can handle all the chain I might go with that.

no issues with the short cage...handles the whole range!

i'm very impressed with the monarch plus, if it gets any better with mileage the thing is just mindblowing. it was a first ride for me after a couple of months, and i was on a hardtail for a few rides before that, so this maybe the reason for the excitement...i'll have to go out on my coil delirium to get a reference point.

Still my favourite bike of all time. Rode it yesterday after being on my Jedi for a month in South Africa and I was blown away by how resonsive the Delerium felt. It is so plush when it needs to be, great BO and then almost no bob under power, even with 33% sag, amazing. Jumps and corners perfectly. The Jedi was great on the DH but really wallows under full power. Not a problem on DH to maintain speed but not fun pedalling to trails etc. Cant wait for the weekend, trail has been prepped and tweak. Photos were taken last year but I just never posted. Only real change is the seat, running a black Transition and I have an adjustable post few milage rides(dont use it much). New Blackspire Raw pedals fitted now. Also have a Lyrik solo air 160mm I picked up off CRC in 2009, crazy bargain. Doing the floodgate mod this week and will be dropping in a 170mm springkit, of coarse no grease in the seals but at least there was oil in it. This will be my backup fork cause even the Totem gets punished so the lyrik may be under gunned. WIll test it next week. Guess thats about it. The bike does all the talking in my house.
