    xc204 w/ Geax Sturdy 2.25s = Monster Truck

I'm a big guy and love my 2009 xc204. I immediately replaced the Dart 3 forks with Marzocchi 44 TS2 air forks and the Bar 1.1 with a Fox RP23. I wanted a 29er but didn't to spend the $$$ to get a 29er full suspension and I got a deal on the xc204. I was prone to pinch flats when I rode a hard tail. I decided to give the Geax Sturdys a try. I was worried if the 2.25s would fit the xc but, I thought what the hell. I pumped them up to 50 psi for the photos.

Here is a pic of the bike:

Here is pic of the Sturdy 2.2.5 v.s. the Velociraptor 2.1 :

Here is the clearance on the Marzocchi front forks:

Here is the clearance on the back swing arm. The paint scrapes are from me riding the Sturdys on 15 miles of gravel on the Hiawatha Trail and peeling rocks off the new knobbies:

I have more clearance when I run at 30 psi. The bike feels like a monster truck going over obstacles.

    Thanks.

Let me know how the Recon works. What size of travel are you looking at?

    My Marzocchi 44s are 120mm.

Looks good. I'm sure the ability to further soak up obstacles is worth the (assumed) increase in weight.

My forks are set at 120mm. I wish I knew how to take out the fork spacer to make it 140mm.

Doesn't extending the travel of a fork that was set at the factory change the steering angle thus performance of the bike? I dont know this as fact, I am just asking......

With my 140mm forks my bike "supposedly" won't steer as quick. I am unable to notice the difference. I also like the additional clearance of the pedals from the ground and the increased space between the rear of the front wheel and the pedals. Especially with the addition of the monster truck tires.

Well, since they gave us a KHS forum, I guess I have to come up with something else for a sig.

    That setup is ludicrous.

I prefer JUST a hair more clearance, but hey, to each his own.

Are those 26" wheels? I run Kenda Rampage 2.4's on mine and have tons more clearance than that!
