A 34.9 clamp top swing, top pull derailler works fine. Such as the Deore m530:

that is the stock equipment on a 09 so you know it will work and at 9 dollars you really can't beat it.

I bought one of these and the chain hits the lower part of it when in the lowest gear on the cog!!

This is frustrating. Anyone know the EXACT front derailler on the 535?? I don't see how this one can work.

Are you sure you went low enough on the frame? It does not hit on mine while pedaling, but does back-pedaling. Technically, you should not be cross-chaining (new word :>) ) meaning small ring in front and back or the reverse, large and large, it bends the chain too much. I've adjusted mine to millimeters from the big ring.

Yes it is VERY low.. Just like you, I've adjusted it millimeters from the big ring. Yeah I know your not supposed to ride like that, but I am just trying to tune this thing to a T before I get it out. I might shave a little metal off the front of the cage; I don't think it will hurt it..
