    Close to getting a 2011 XC-604

    Hi.

    After searching a bit for a FS bike, I'm leaning toward a 2011 XC-604.

The components seem good (to me, at least), and the look is cool.

Anyone got one and want to talk it up?

    Thanks.

    ^^^ +1, definitely a good groupo for a sub-$2k bike.

Had a 2008 and I loved it!! Great bike for the price, and well equipped. Good luck getting one.

I have an XC204 and love it. It's been a great bike and has held up to the weekly beatings I unleash upon it. I've only got about 300 miles on mine (got it in December and ride the road a lot too) but it's been great.

That being said, the XC line is quite heavy. My bike weighs in at ~34lbs and from I remember the 604 is just a few pounds lighter, so I'd expect it to be ~30lbs. The longer the ride and the steepers the climbs, the harder it is to lug that weight around.

I believe both bikes (204 & 604) share the same frame, so any weight advantage would be gained in the components. That being said, the geometry is great, the bike climbs well and the XL fits me like a glove (6'3).
