v-brakes on an 05 Dakar Expert?

    Hi all,
I'm looking for input on the durability of putting v-brakes on a 2005 Dakar Expert frame. I'm building one up this winter, and being able to take over the wheels and brakes from my old Dakota AL would ease my pocketbook considerably. I see that the frame does have brake bosses on the rear triangle, but...are they just for show?

Given that the seatstays are made of carbon, does anybody have any information about how well they'd hold up to the torsion of v-brakes? I did see one set of pictures posted once here from a guy who had this setup - if you're reading this, how well is it working for you? Does anyone else have first-hand info on this? Any Jamis techs in the audience familiar with this frame? Thank you!

    V-Brakes

    Hey JamisXC,

Go ahead and use your brakes and wheel set off of your old bike. The carbon stays on your new bike will be fine to use with V-Brakes, they are designed to do so, and will work great!

    Enjoy your new bike!
