    I think thats everything. The most amazing thing I've found about this bike that I've found so far is that it's dead silent even when ripping down rooty singletrack. The carbon fiber really dampens all sound. Its actually really cool. I've had two big get offs already and the bike still doesn't have a scratch so that's good. hopefully it will last.

    Very nice Dragon, any idea on the weight? I know its steel so its naturally heavy but this is one of the lightest looking chromo bikes I have seen.

    Feels lighter. Well it did before I put the saddle bag on... I just found a DIY to slime prestas so I'm hoping I can ditch the bag once I slime my tubes. I know I know go tubeless. blah blah blah

    just bought a jamis dakar

    I found this forum while looking for a mtb in my price range to ride around campus, and this thread more or less sold me on a 2009(?) Jamis Dakar Sport ($150 off craigslist) took it straight to the LBS for a light go-over, got a new chain, getting a new rear derailleur cable today, and got the derailleurs adjusted. I dont know what fork is on it and i believe the rear shock is a fox, but the brakes are Avic and the shifters/derailleurs are Shimano Deore. i cant ID the wheels, and it needs some new odds and ends but i love the thing so far. it does seem to crosschain in a lot of gears though, is that a common thing? what do you suggest as my first upgrade? i was considering a bashguard and going down to just 2, maybe one chainring, but im really pretty new to biking and i dont know where to start

    i have pics, but my post count isnt high enough yet

    I would say ride it a while and see if there's any stand-out component that is failing or under-performing.

    Of not, then bling it out.

    Well a lot of why I was considering the bashring and using one chainring is to eliminate the chain rubbing on the front derailleur as much. I considered a different derailleur too but I don't know if that'd solve it. It's a deore xt right now which I understand is pretty high end

    Cross-chaining is user error, not equipment malfunction. If you're in the middle ring, you should be able to hit the whole cassette without rubbing. If you can't, it's out if adjustment. When you're in the granny, you should be able to hit "most" of the low cogs. In the big ring, "most" of the high cogs.

    It still wasn't shifting properly. It was shifting a lot better though. Today I went back for 2 new shift cables, the rear one was kinked and the front was missing a ferrule and not seated properly in one of the routing things. When they adjusted it all again afterwards, they still couldn't get it to stop cross chaining all over. They pointed out though that the front derailleur was aftermarket, and was too far out even fully adjusted to properly cover the chain rings. They actually took a rubber spacer out of the left side of theBB and put it on the right side (moved the chain rings out about 2mm from where they were, and after a little fine adjustment, it finally shifted properly with no cross chaining except at the extremes.

    Congrats on the new bike. Consider changing that saddle out if it gets to you, I had the same one on my Dragon and its squishy-ness got pretty uncomfortable on longer rides.

    Rides good. Put 20 miles on it yesterday and another 8 on some more technical stuff today in wet conditions. Saddle is suiting me fine for now. Only upgrade I am considering is the tires. Stock tires aren't that great in wet/muddy conditions. Other than that, it's awesome.

    My new 2011 Jamis Durango 1.0 Femme 14".



    She was on sale from the dealer for $489.00 and it seemed like it had more bike for my budget versus other 2012 bikes in the $480 to $575 price scale.

    I've had it a few weeks and I'm very new at trail riding so it's only been out on easy trails. But I'm building up my skills and can't wait to take her out on the singletrack near me.

    The first things I'm swapping out on my bike are seat post, saddle and pedals. I'm impressed with the mechanical disc brakes versus v-brakes but I'm thinking of changing the Tektro IOs for BB7s. The fork and wheels will come later once I have a clue.

    The seat post bolt loosens too quickly and the saddle slides around. I've tightened the sucker like I hate it but the saddle still ends up wobbly. I have an Easton two bolt seat post I bought for $35 on my commuter bike and I'm thinking that one.

    I have had many seatposts over the years and the only one I've carried over from one bike to the next is my Thomson. It's pricey, but well worth the money. Easton makes a great one. Raceface posts are a sorry design. Mine was always noisy...even with grease. I chapped out once and bought a Kalloy Uno...big mistake.

    Upgrade to BB7's for sure, They are as close to hydraulic disc brakes as you can get with cables. Well worth the money.

    Very nice. My sister is looking for a new bike and that would fit the bill pretty well. It's too bad there are no Jamis dealers where I live.

    2011 Dakar 650 B2

    Bought as leftover this year and it took me 6 months before had all the parts I needed and then finally put it together

    First, never cut a steerer before it's time. Still it's really long as I'm playing with stem height and length. It's a 12 degree 75mm Specialized stem with different shims that adjust it from +- 8 degrees to +- 16 degrees. Stock stem for my Large was 110mm

    Another Specialized item I borrowed is the Dangler chain guide I trimmed up to fit the Jamis. Works awesome and so quiet with almost 0 chain slap

    Answer Pro Taper Carbon 720mm bars, 1" rise with ODI Rouge Lock On grips. Stock bars were 670mm Brake levers are set up moto style from 30+ years of dirt biking

    Changed the stock 26/39 spider/rings to 24/38/bash. Jamis went this route for 13 on the Pro and most new 650B bikes are using this or 24/36. Works well for 650B size

    Race Face crank arm end protectors (and needed)

    Straitline pedals

    I put on the wheels from my Prophet (for our abusive conditions here) and save the stock for backup or for people to borrow and try out. Flow rear with Hadley hub, Pacenti TL28 front with Hope Pro 2 Evo hub. Both wheels build with Sapim triple butted spokes and 2.3" Neo Moto tires. Pretty bombproof.

    Lots of clear tape you can't see with the pearl white color, an extra piece of Lizzard Skin on the back of the swingarm and a piece of rubber fuel line to protect the RD cable from scrapes and damage
