    New Jamis Exile Frames?

Anyone know when the new 08 Exile 29r frames will come out? I heard sometime late August. I've got the jitters waiting for it to come in. I can't wait to get it built back up and on the trails. Also, did they change anything as far as color, graphics, or anything else? I know it will have a gusset on it to compensated for the weak headtube joinings but know nothing else. Let me know!

I heard the catalogs start to ship in late August and the bike not until September. I'll be talking to Jamis at the end of the week, and get more up-to-date information.

    Heavy...

We weighed this years frame, it was a little over 6 pounds. This is for the XL frame though. 08's will most likely be a bit heavier as they are supposed to have a gusset attached. Either way, its a great bike, it's just steel is not the lightest material to use...

wow 6+ pounds, mine is a 19" so it will be similar.

might have to look at a lighter frame for next year afterall

    thanks for that.

08 Exile ships mid-october. Jamis does not record the frame weight, but the complete bike is about 25lbs.

It would be nice if Jamis had the option of this frame made in 853 steel,
like the Dragon. From what I see the geometry is the same, with just the dropouts
    the main differance.

Did they correct the geometry from the 07s with their crappy 71 degree head angles?

Weighed my recently built-up '07 19" on a calibrated scale:
frame only: 5.02 lbs w/bottle cage and rear rack bolts and fork end adjusters left in
fork only: 2.83 lbs w/star nut included

I was happy with the frame weight, but a little surprised at the fork weight given the tapered legs.

Looking at pictures of the downtube/headtube change for '08, I wouldn't expect the '08 weights to be that different.
