    New Jamis Durango ...

Finally!!! ... first bike since 1994!!! Nothing overly fancy. Something to serve it's purpose until later! The quest for a healthier me and family (will get them on the road soon :P) has arrived!!!

Took it for a spin not to long ago and I love it!!!

nice! my first "real" mtn bike was also a durango, back in 2004. i rode that bike just about every day, used and abused it and it took it like a champ.
finally got rid of it this past spring, in favor of another Jamis....Parker this time. 3 months after buying the Parker i went whole-hog and ordered a Ventana DH rig for lift serviced riding.
Consequences dictate our course of action and it doesn't matter what's right. It's only wrong if you get caught.

I have the 2010 Durango three.

I'm a beginner.. and I think it's an excellent bike for a beginner. It's very basic but has some nice features.

I upgraded to a FS lately.. and there are still many things I prefer the durango for.

The only major cons are that the bike is a drop heavy and the tektro brakes aren't the easiest to service.

Other than that, you get a LOT of bike for the money.

It's so dizzying... and in my opinion, impossible to figure out by brute force efforts.. it seeps in over time.

In the mean time, get a bike and ride. I can promise you that once you're on a bike, you will regret every moment that you spent contemplating this decision that could have been spent on the trails.

Btw - I suspect that you would be VERY happy with the durango.

bigspoon: I'm in agreement with with Stevuke. I'm a large guy and so far am pleased with my purchase.overall. What I plan to do (hopefully not to distant future) is begin to replace a few items. First on list is front fork. As stated, I'm a "Clydes/Super-Clydes" and since hitting the trails, I don't see my front fork lasting a long time.

Other than that being my main concern, I like it for my first mtb!

Shiiiiit I'm about to pull the trigger on the Durango 2. Can't find any major downfalls + it should be a good bike to get out on. Just test rode a 29er though and I'm haveing second thoughts.
