    Jamis XC Chain Problem

    Hey Yall

I recently purchased a Jamis Dakar XC and have been riding it for about three weeks not. Last week I took the chain off and cleaned it up. But since then I have noticed that that Chain seems to slip some how. I'll be pedaling and all of a sudden it will feel as if it wants to change gears. I'm relatively new to the whole MTB thing so any knowledge would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
    Steve

wow dropping off the page here without a reply

check for a tight link. You might have one bound up
make sure the chain is back in the RD cage correctly (sorry had to say it)

Other than that I can't think of anything you could have done to cause it by chain R&R. Are you sure it isn't just cable stretch? Do a search on derailleur adjustments here or on youtube if you can't see anything else.

and whats with all the tags on this thread?

Thanks for the input I believe it was the chain after taking it off and inspecting it I had 2 links that were really tight. I loosened those up and hopefully now I'll be good to go.

About the tags, I'm kinda a noob here so I dont really know how things work... figured tags would help if someone was searching if they had a similar problem?

if your binding links cleaning the chain then change your methods or do as I did and stop cleaning.
Done wrong it's worse than leaving it dirty and really kills chain life >IMO<. Not what you're after I'm sure.
