New question here. Fair market value on a 10 year old Dakar?

I know that usually something is only worth what one is willing to pay but is there some sort of "Kelly Blue Book" for bikes?

I'm looking at a 2004 Jamis Dakar 2.0 XLT in good/great condition and I'm wondering if paying any more than maybe $650 is worth it? As far as I can tell, there have been none if few upgrades and comes with a spare set of road tires and 4 tubes. Considering this model retailed for around $1500 new 10 year ago I believe this is a fair price to offer.

Any thoughts, feelings, or insight on this?
    Thanks

Funny you should ask, I found this site a few weeks ago.
Bicycle Blue Book - Trade With Confidence
It looks like 650 is a bit high. One point, the 04' had a chainstay weekness and many were replace with the beefier 05. The 04 was color coordinated with the bike, the 05 all black, a lot beefier. Here is a picture of my 05, I still ride it. Good luck, it's still a very good bike.

+1 on the Blue Book Link.

It was instrumental in dealing with sellers when I was recently in the market and ultimately acquired my used "like new" Stumpjumper FSR Comp.

Wow. Thanks for that site. I have some good "ammo" now to negotiate with.

Something to consider is geographic variation in those numbers. After keeping a eye out and a finger on the pulse of the BBB site in comparison to what I was seeing on craigslist in a long search was bike prices in my region of CA were consistently going for a couple hundred more than the BBB had them valued. It's hard to know exactly what the final used purchase price is on a transaction like that but watching the bikes come up and fall off the craigslist pretty fast were all priced higher by a couple-a-few hundred.
