Dropping weight on my Exile 2

I got the 2011 Exile 2 a while back and now looking for some inexpensive ways to make it a little lighter. Obviously a new wheelset would help a lot but that's not in the cards at the moment. Here is the link to the bike for reference

    Smile Wheels and Rims

I have the Exile II and my sister has the gary fisher X caliber, her's weigh's 5 lbs less, Both bikes are 17's, the frames with bars and parts are the same weight, the tire and rim weigh's 2.2 lbs lighter per wheel, right there 5 lbs, I didn't take the rims apart and weigh tire and rim separately so I'm not sure if it's the tires, rims or combo of the two. I hope this helps.
