2011 TraiL X3 Upgrade Path Options

Hello everyone, Please forgive my newbness, I am looking for a little help.

Last year I bought a Jamis Trail X3, I have been pretty happy with it. I use it for trail and street.
I told myself last year that if I stuck with Cycling I would buy some upgrades to the bike this year.

Well now it is this year, so I'm shopping for upgrades, unfortunately I don't know much about how parts interchange and that sort of thing.

I thought I would start by replacing the stock pedals, maybe switch to semi-slick tires or replace the wheels, perhaps upgrade the crankshaft.
Wherever the best bang for the buck is.

    Some considerations:
Last year I used the bike in the following conditions:
    Pavement/Packed trail: 70%
    Woods\Mud\Off road: 30%

    Budget: $150 CDN/USD
    Bike Specs are here:
    http://www.jamisbikes.com/usa/thebik...11_trailx3.pdf

Does anyone have some guidance on this topic?

I think I need lots of help, for example I'm finding it hard to even size tires correctly. The Wheels are Alex TD-25 32H and the Tires CSTXC 26x1.95.
Does this mean I have to use 26x1.95 on those wheels/rims? If not what sizes will fit.

If I am posting int he wrong place please let me know. I would appreciate it.

    hi chris,

check out some threads in the beginner forum as there is much more info in there.

for $150 I would do ether pedals or tires, you'll want to look for some 26inch tires that will fit your frame, 1.95's are kinda narrow for me. I like big tires ad run 2.4's I don't know if they'll fit your frame though.

like I stated, try your question in the beginner forum as you'll get more traffic.
