New question here. Never riden an Iron Horse before....

Whats the word on the 2003 IH Rogue?
I found one for $500 and thats right in my price range. Its got a Manitou Axel fork, Maxxis Mobster tires, Deore lx rear derailer, deore front derailer and shifters. Koski stem and handlebars and saddle. Truvativ 5D crankset, its a 27 speed and has Hayes disc brakes.

This would be my first ever mountain bike and I dont know much about them. Is this a good bike?

The bike you describe is an 03.5 Rogue model. It is a great value for an mid level hardtail. I believe original retail was around $800.
