Thats the funniest thing I have heard all week . BTW I like the new bike better and I am sure you will like the horst pivot 4 bar over the single pivot of the aniki.

i just got mine and i installed it, but i have trouble running it through the first gear, second gear is no problem

coil? air? new? used? shorter/longer to tweak travel and geometry?

how much are you wanting to spend, max? that'll dictate what you can get more than anything else.

i want coil, and i was looking at those new Rock Shox Vivid 5.1's

im not as sure as the geometry of the shock is but I read ironhorse's specs on the 07 aniki and it says 8.75X2.5, but my shock seems different, it does say 400X2.85 on the coil.

the stock size for the 07 shock is 8.75 x 2.5. the 400 number refers to the spring rate of the coil. so there you go. order up a vivid in that size, with that spring weight. or less/higher depending on how the stock 400# feels. too soft? go up a bit. so firm? go down a bit.

the new RS stuff has the same hardware sizing (afaik) as the fox stuff, so you should be able to reuse the stuff off your stock shock.

rocket science + brain surgery = rocket scurgery. considering you made that post about the same time as my last reply, nope, i'd not read that.

nope, they don't. so you either get a different shock that comes in that size, or you run the longer stroke. which shouldn't contact your frame at bottom out, considering it's the same frame as the ojiki, and it has that longer size as a stock shock without any bottom issues.

granted, maybe not. try to see if a local shop has any shock in that longer stroke size you'd be able to throw on the frame to measure for bottom out/frame contact issues.

or just buy a vivid and see ofr yourself if it fits. if it doesn't work, you'll likely be able to sell the vivid again very easily.

Using the 8.5X2.75 should work it will give the bike an extra inch of travel though. Look back through this thread rear shocks have been covered a bunch. Im pretty sure the Swinger 6 way I put on my bike is 8.5X2.75 the 8.5 is how long the shock is eye to eye and the 2.75 is how long the shocks stroke is (how far the piston goes into the shock) and these measurements are all in inches.

nope. to confuse the issue more, i'm running a 8.5 x 2.5 shock. lowered the bb height, slackened the head angle a bit, tightened up the back end a bit, and gives me ~ 6.4" of travel - all stuff i wanted with this bike.

$300 or below would be good, if possible. It is not a huge issue though.
