The timing sounds about right on the hub...I have an 05 though and the rear hub is just fine...I had to change the front hub anyway when putting the triple crown fork on it.

Quick update...I ordered all my parts and hopefully will be on my bike by the end of the month. As soon as everything is on I'll post more pictures.
    So far this is what I've upgraded to;
    race face diablous stem
    race face grips
manitou sherman slider + 170mm fork
    dimension front hub
    manitou 3way coil shock 9 x 2.75 x 600lb
    race face evolve ss crankset
    mrp minime chainguide
    maxxis dh high roller tires
    dh rated tubes
sram x-9 shorty shifter (right side)
sram x-9 super short rear derailuer
(still haven't decided on the braking system yet)

Front Hub start to develop some play after a month of use. Planning to overhaul them later and see whatís up.
Rear Hub still strong no problem. I have been rough with them lately. Lots of down hill runs here is Cali, but itís all good.

    Have upgraded my bike
Marzzochi Drop off Triple 170mm (not impressed) but okay
    Manitou coil rear shock 9x2.75
    SRAM 9 speed cassette
    SRAM 9 speed chain
    SRAM x7 shifter pod

Yakuzafreerider same here Have not decided which brake system to get, right now Iím loving my mechanical brakes after hours and hours of use, seems that my brake cable sits perfect on housing and make it a one smooth braking system. not bad at all

Yakuzarider...my brakes are ok...but a lot of the trails I ride are super steep and heat up quickly but nonetheless work great for now.
    Chris>the bike porn is coming...lol
Want to add a note...I love manitou products but having to buy a 2 hardware mounting kits made me sick at 20 to 25bucks a shot...well the coil shock arrived and I took the x fusion off and to may joy the mounting hardware for the x fusion fit the manitou! its hard to get everything apart but I managed and repressed everything into the new coil shock. Just want all you to know that have x fusion coil shocks that the mounting componets match up...

Just got my rear shock today Metel-RP 3-way coil. 9x2.75 (650lbs) spring I notice that rebound adjustment dose not work after turning fully open and all the way closed rebound felt stiff throughout. Arhhh. .

X-fusion shock feels a lot smoother that this.

Did I forget some thing here platform adjustment works fine all the way +++ make it super slow on compression and fully ---- negative make is faster to compress

yakusarider-you may want to check the amount of air in the coil shock...if you dont have a shock pump take it to a local bike shop. sometimes the volume of air in any suspension part from manitou is below what it should be for example my fork needed 75lbs of air pressure before working properly and 20hrs of ride time before broken in. Im assuming after checking the air pressure the coil shock itself will need a break in time. Now if the air pressure isnt working after checking the air then Id contact manitou...or the place of purchase>I know my coil shock will need broken in and I have a 600lb insteade of a 650lb. This one is stiff but I know after a few rides will be fine and before riding Im gonna have it checked out as well....the manitou metal was what I almost bought but Im wanting to keep it simple for now because Im already looking at possibly racing in 08 and Im just using this bike as a learning tool...My eyes are after a trek session 10 for 08...lol but who knows this bike may be enough to handle anything once finished.

Aharr.... I donít know if this shock has a pressure adjustment. I donít see any?
Way to stiff barrowed my friendís 500lbs spring last night and still no difference rebound still donít work. Once you compressed them it would not return smoothly way to slow even on fully negative rebound seting. Planning to send it in to check whatís up, hope fully they can fix it soon.

My hanger snapped a while back and mangled the derraileur I think theres a slight design error in chain length on the bike it seems when you are running in the small ring up front theres too much chain slack and it causes some issues.

Pricey I understand man I do...but we all know we are working with a bike that has under par parts on it right off the bat thats why it was so cheap...lol anyways luckily with all my upgrades they where on sale ect ect...caculated everything at full price last night including cost of bike to be around $3500 now. Next time I buy a bike Im going all out the first go around lol so my trek session 10 is atleast a year and a half away ; ) so Ill just ride the hell out of the aniki till then....

    steerer size

    hey
ok so i know that the aniki takes 1 1/8 " forks because of a reducer.im thinking about getting new forks and im kinda limited to what i can get because of the size ,
is there any way u can remove the reducer without having to hack it to bits so it
can be reused. if so would i need to buy other things to make it fit.
    cheers

    just wondering...

why did you guys bother to buy the aniki in the first place if you are just going to replace the parts?

You might as well of boughten something more expensive and not replaced anything (less work, less $ for new parts, and more time to bike)

I have an aniki and i am planning to leave it stock and buy a '04 marin team dh.

well the reason why I bought an aniki was one it was cheap-I didnt know how into I would get but Im hooked on it now...money isnt something I come by easily being a single parent atleast up until this year and upgrading as I go was more logical than sinking $5000 in a bike right off the bat. But my parts didnt hold up anyway but the frame is great. So Im building it up and when my son grows up he can ride the aniki and Ill have my 10"monster. The aniki is a great bike but is badass decked out. ....

    pictures coming soon!

Because the frame is a kickass mother ****er and I didnt have a bunch of money to blow on the Kumicho or whatever. And besdes, I'll be able to spend under 2000 total on this bike and have it how I want it. Gotta love Ebay :-p!

Went and ride today with my new 450lbs spring and metel Rp shock. Not pleased with it.
Too stiff hard to stay on track.

I did add air on my forks to make it Stiff Result improves tracking but not as good as I wanted to. Hard on bumps makes riding challenging.
