The '03 Sports came with them, so browsing those reviews ought to provide some insight.

For the few weeks I rode an AVA on mine, I really didn't care for the linearity of the larger volume positions -- I definitely feel the bike benefits, even needs, the bottom-out protection that the rising rate air shocks provide. That would cause me to be suspicious of a coil on this bike.

    Hey Nate,

Thanks for the reply. On a different note, how is the speed hub doing. I saw someone on the trail that had one, and it seemed pretty cool. How are you liking it?

If you haven't demo'd one, you owe it to yourself. I love the instant shifts and complete lack of drivetrain maintenance, and will be happy to never own another derailleur in my life.

I really liked the Hollowpoint when I demod it a couple years ago. It had a Float shock that needed a very high psi for my near 200 lb riding weight.

I've seen 5th Element coils used on mountin-x and duel slolum Hollowpoint race bikes. But I imagine the spring weight was pretty firm for those hard DH racing events. But the rising rate compression damping of the 5th or Manitou Swinger coil (using the same 5th design) probably would work safely.

It seems like Ska Todd or someone from Hollowpoint would know which coil shock would work best by now.
