    Good job! 7POINT photos

As per DW's request, let's get them 7Point action pictures posted.

I guess we can grandfather in those SGS pictures as well.

I'll get the ball rolling with my dead sailor demonstration:

here's a few from my last trip down to Virgin. the bike killed it down there. i still think I'd like a slacker head-angle though. there are some steep ass trails down there. i find myself having to shift my weight way behind my saddle. whatever, minor complaint. the bike loves to catch air!

I'm embarrassed to say that my 7Point isn't even built yet!! BUT I have good excuses Weather has been absolute shait, Waiting for some parts, Holiday break (was back home), Busy with work (major layoffs last month) and was building another play bike.

EDIT: OH and I had to wait 4-5 weeks for my shock to come back from progressive

I hope to have some pics soon...in the meantime, keep em' coming!!! these are AWESOME!!

    highjacked

I have to highjack your thread and say great pics.

Those 7points are so sick. I'm thinking of going to it from the Bullit. Just concerned about the extra weight on trails. Things look super stable/plush. Hopefully I'm going to ride one this summer as a demo and then decide.

Anyways, nice shots. So, much better than a bike against a tree,rock....

Winter in MA isn't the best for riding, add a job to the equasion and it gets hard to find time to spare. But the weather forecast this weekend is looking good....and I've talked with Dave so riding is on the agenda.

    thanks
it is a 7point5 . all stock except the handlebar that i changed to a higher rise one.
spent all my money on my other bike (specialized sx trail, all custom specs).
as soon as the wife calms down (she told me to go get myself a birthday present i want, so i went and bought the 7point5 ), i'll start messing with them.

I raced in my first DH race this weekend at Fontana, CA. I was pretty slow, but not slow enough to get passed.
It was well organized and blast to do.

I saw several 7Points out there and a couple of Sundays.

Here are some nice photos that Jody Gomez aka PhotoMom took of the race.

    Winston,

Good job at Fontana. I wanted to get my "first race" on as well, but the home work is starting to pile up.
You going to the next one? I'm going to try to make it.

    Thanks man.

I'm going to miss the next one (race # 3) in favor of Mountain Bike Bill's Palm Springs Epic. If you can make Palm Springs I highly recommend it.

I'll be back for races 4 & 5 out at Fontana.

Wow, that looks nice. Will you ride the 7point, or your lighter bike?
Tough decision- southridge or palm canyon. Either way I gotta hit the books first. (damn priorities, why do I have to be so "responsible" )

I haven't ridden much since Xmas so I'm on the fence between riding the 7Point7 or my ID (which of course rolls along better.) I dusted off the ID last night.

I know -bb- has done the ride on his 7Point7. We shall see.

Palm Canyon is good for a 5" trail bike or a 29er.

There will be lots of opportunities to ride Fontucky. Palm Canyon with Mountain Bike Bill is something you don't miss in my opinion.

Thanks for asking the wrist is all healed up. I have just been sick with this bad cough for the last 5 weeks, and missed the last 2 fontana races.
Yesterday evening was my first ride in 20 days (if we can call this a ride, just a jumping session).

Here is an other nice shot of Tommyg: Looks like he is riding the ridge of the mountain in the background.

I would post pics of Danno doing this big double but he was riding his 6pack

What you can't see is the backside. You've got to do about a 3 foot pretty steep step up, stabilize, jog right, and then turn left and drop the face. It's like riding over the back of a giant horse, something I'm sure we all do often

Yeah, but it's TommyG risking his life for these shots! You can see Craigo up top shooting a video looking down.

There's a great sequence of Chirs that he's got to pull off his video cam. You can see Chris pulling off the rock with TommyG lying on the ground below him. Hopefully, he'll jpeg those in the next couple days for this thread.

It's a 66 RC2X. 4 rides so far and it is breaking in nicely. Its a nice improvement over the Breakout +. (Small bump and high speed wise.)

Had a small problem with the low speed compression knob allen bolt falling off. Luckily the knob itself fell off in my hand when I was adjusting it.

(You can see in the photo that the knob is missing from the bottom the fork leg.)

And I thought I had to worry about the rebound and X-compression adjusters disappearing...lol.

I do miss having a travel reduction system a little, but I biased my decision towards downhill performance.

To be honest even with the travel reduction, the uphills will still be the same struggle. How's the weight compare between the two forks?

I like the look of the white fork on that frame, a travis 180 in white would look sick too.

    I can't tell a weight difference.

I saw a couple Travis Single 203 TPC+ forks at The Path tonight.

I was hoping one of them was a 180 to compare axle to crown height with a 66. I know the 180 is taller. (Just neat to finally see the Travis up close, I'm glad I went with the 66.)

Haha, not true for me, the ETA makes a HUGE difference for climbing. Travel reduction is a very subjective thing. Some people swear by it, others swear that it screws up the geometry, even for climbing.

BTW, I see chirs lock his down so about 2" of stanchions are showing for every climb so I know what group he's in.

Hey danno, how is frenchy liking that fork anyway? He's had it now for about 3-4 months, any problems? Still working fine?

I'm with you - I've had a Talas, a Bkout + and a Pike - the travel adjust gets used on every xc ride. IMO, it's invaluable on steep climbs.
That being said, SylentK did a fair amount of climbing last nite on his Sunday w/ Roco and 888rc2x (and a 32t chainring). Pretty impressive...

Yeah! I'm sure he'll weigh in on how it rides, but he's kick'n a$$ with that fork. His whole setup is really nice, balanced ride. The only issue was that when he first got it the right seal was leaking like crazy. Not wanting to have to send it back, because of the down time, we pulled it apart and found the inner seal was flipped upside down!? Once we fixed that it's been working great ever since.

Very strong candidate for my next ride!

It can be done, I do the same thing on my SGS Team DH bike, but it's certainly a lot more work for me. I used to even tie down the Boxxer once in a while on really long climbs. I adapted the bike to accept a front derailleur, so I do know what it's like to climb steep stuff with it.

A couple years ago my ETA wasn't working quite right on my Z150 so it would creep back to fully extended after a couple minutes. I had a badly broken collarbone that was just healing, but I couldn't stand climbing without it so I'd be constantly slamming the front end down trying to re-engage it despite the pain. I'm sure Chris remembers that!

That fork is the best one I have ever ridden (66 ETA Light). It is awesome for everything. Around here we have a lot of steep ups so the ETA is a must. I lock mine down as low as I can, it makes the climbs way easier. This fork plus the efficiency of the DW link make the 7point a very efficient climber for a freeride bike.

A rather modest picture of my rather modest downhilling effort from this past weekend at Massanutten Virginia. I came in very nearly dead last in my beginner category, but hark, I didn't and that was my goal for my first downhill race. So HAH!!

Here is me hitting a little hip behind my house.

I just got my new ride two days ago...I love this bike. Dave you have designed an amazing machine...I got to take it on some DH tracks yesterday and It tracks so well in the corners and off camber. Landing jumps and drops are sooo sweet.

    2006 7Point7 action shots

I had the pleasure of riding with Shannon yesterday on The Path ride. He owns a large 2006 7Point7.

Here are some shots of Shannon in action:

Shannon even let me take his bike off the drop a couple of times. His bike felt very nice and a livelier feel and than my plush setup. (We both ride a large. Both have a 66 RC2X up front. He has a DHX Coil while I run a Roco RC.)

Heres a couple photo's from a recent shore ride, the wallride is harder than it looks, as it has an interesting little jump about 10 feet before you hit it. The other is of a ladder on cbc.

    My first 7p7 action shot!

Rode on of my favorite trails on Sunday. Great ride, and quite a change from our former Socal surroundings. The move to Utah and the 7point have both been great!

Only one pic of me on the IH (rolling down the ladder on Aztec Rock), but there are some nice shots of others on the thread below, including Chuky taking a nice dirt nap, and a rather gigantic moose.

    Moose! Pics from Sunday

    Enjoy!

Okay I suddenly realised I should throw these pictures up, taken when I was practising for the Air DH on A-line at Crankworx.

I also have a new camera, so once the bike is clean I'll get some static shots too.

If this thread doesn't get some serious wooded terrain it's going to implode into a blackhole of boulders, rolldowns, and shrublands.

So here's my part....these are shots from some filming that I did over the past weekend. That's me in the pics, a friend was filming, the first is a helmetcam shot while the rest are from 50% sized shots from my DV camcorder. No boulders, no fully compressed 66 forks, no seats at XC angles of attack (well you can't see that, but trust me).
