    Sturmey for 2014-2015: new IGHs

Here's SunRace Sturmey-Archer's IGH catalog for the following couple years.

It describes new a new 5-speed family of rotary shift hubs, a new 4-speed family of rotary shift hubs, a new up-market single speed hub with an aluminum hubshell and roller actuated coaster brake and some new dyno hubs w/o drum brakes.

    PDF download.

The all-up 4-speed looks to be two stages of the three stage XRF8(W), but with a different driver that will accept standard AW-style cogs.

The five speed looks good on paper. 64%, 80%, 1/1, 125%, 156%; even +25% steps; 243% overall. "Designed for heavy duty use". Drum brake, disc brake, coaster brake and freewheel versions.

According to the catalog, the S50 hubs, like the XRF5(W), will be discontinued.

Yet another version of the crappy 5 speed hub. I always get a kick out of IGHers complaining Shimano doesn't have spare parts like SA does. My two-versions-ago 5 speed hub (Sprinter?) wasn't supported after the XRF5 was released, I expect the XRF5 isn't going to be supported anymore too. And when I say, "not supported" I mean I couldn't even find a shifter from the factory for a 5 year old hub, had to scrounge for one on ebay.
