    Sprocket availability for Alfine

I am just about to buy my Alfine unit, am I right in thinking that they do not come with a sprocket and if this is true, I have calculated that an 18T would suit me just fine.

Where are they available from as I see a lot of 20T sprockets, I am assuming that the sprocket is special to the Alfine unit. Cheers, I am UK based.

It is special to the Alfine but you should either get it upfront or buy it here:

    or here

or even here in the UK:

They're common IGH cogs, actually. My LBS even has a bin full of old steel Sturmey Archer/Shimano cogs and snap rings, all identical to the new Alfine stuff.

Schmucker, do you know if the Sturmey Archer cogs have the same amount of dish as the Alfine cogs? I've been wondering If I could adjust at the rear...

They looked like they had the same dish. They did look thicker, however. Probably 1/8 cogs.
