    this seems like a great deal...thoughts?

    yeah, you'd need teh small parts kit and the shifter, but seems like a good deal if you're starting from scratch.

    Im considering it for my Karate Monkey.


    Pros/Cons of the Alfine SGS501 compared to the other Alfine hubs??

    Hey, I put together a bike with one of these once. It is indeed a pretty good deal. No worries on that hub model number, it's seen use by quite a few folks for mountain bikes. I run mine 32x23.

    Flop the usual order of the blue and green anti-turn washers so you can run the shift cable up along the seat stay.

    I use the modified SRAM-Alfine shifter from Zerode, even though it's a bit expensive: Zerode X9/Alfine Sram Shifter |Zerode USA

    The Dyad is 24mm wide [external] so ~21.5mm wide internally. You can mount anything up to a 2.4" 29er tire. I've run 3" tires on Stans rims with a 22.6mm internal width.
