    Racing Rohloff? Yep!

My son Miguel took 4th today in his NorCal High School Race in the Div 2 Soph Class on his Rohloff/Lenz. 16 miles, 2200 ft climbing, several long climbs, swoopy singletrack downs, some really nasty steep ptiches. Got into other riders heads. This is the first time he has raced it and that is a function of the Lenz being appropriate for the course. The courses are mostly HT courses. The Lenz is not stiff enough in the rear to get the best out of climbs and accelerations. We are thinking that a more modern Pro-Pedal Fox that locks out like the one on my Stumpy will really improve it's performance. The "no-bobbing rear end", "we have the best design" marketing is just that and subject to so many factors.
The Hub uses full length cables and is sweet but the whole racing thing is something that needs to be developed.

Interesting picture... how'd your boy get a chain ring tattoo on his left calf, when most of us get it on the right? Riding a tandem in front?

The chainring mark came from the Pits

Our Pit was really crowded at this venue. Moving bikes, mounting to trainers and such was close.
