Putting the Alfine through some abuse testing

I ran my Alfine hub for 165 miles of racing this weekend, including some rain and 2 massively muddy laps. The hub worked flawlessly, continuing to function while other people were having broken derailleur, chain, and dropout issues.

The only real issue I had was the inability to twist the twist shifter when things got insanely muddy. I could have used a shifter with more aggressive fins.

I also had some chain derailments in the massively muddy laps, but that was really insufficient chain tension.

Some good torture for you too then! I just took my Alfine up to the LBS for lacing. They said about a week. I've been acquiring parts since last fall for the build. It looks like I'll be having a busy week assembling everything. From what I've read here the hub seems to be quite reliable. I wonder though if it is bomb proof. I won't be finding out myself, since I don't drop off big stuff, but others do. We'll see.
