NuVinci & HammerSchmidt Combo Anyone?

Sounds crazy, but has anyone ever tried a Fallbrook Technologies NuVinci hub in back with a SRAM HammerSchmidt up front? Sounds like it would be a "seamless" shifting setup with a lot of range....

On paper, the ratios look like they might work, except for one little problem:

NuVinci calls for a minimum chainring:cog ratio of 2.0:1.

The Hammerschmidt is 24/38 gearing, and NuVinci's recommended gearing is 38:18 (2.1:1).

In theory, running Hammerschmidt + a 16T cog would extend your upper range and give you a whole bunch of low gear to play with, but 24x18 would result in a 1.3:1 ratio -- definitely below their suggested minimum.
