    Niner Air9 Rohloff conversion?

I currently have an XT geared Air9 and am considering a Rohloff conversion.

    Rohloff recommends
Art Nr: 8026 SPEEDHUB 500/14 CC DB OEM
    or
Art Nr: 8021 SPEEDHUB 500/14 CC DB

    Questions:
    1) Does Niner sanction mounting anything to the DB mounts?
    2) Has anyone tried it with success/failure?
    3) Is it worth ($/performance) to switch to an EBB to be able to do away with the chain tensioner?
    4) Would it be difficult or costly to move the hub to a slider-dropout SS frame in the future?
    5) In general, does a Rohloff function more gracefully with a slider dropout or EBB for tensioning?

    Thanks

Niner was receptive to me mounting my Speedhub to a RIP9 using the disc brake tabs (via a Monkey Bone). I'd run it by them if you're looking for a thumbs up.

Can't speak specifically for the AIR9, but my setup works great. Installation shouldn't be a problem; the only question I'd have is regarding the Air's scandium tube set.

If you could avoid the tensioner by using an EBB, it's probably worth you while. The tensioner adds just a tough more roughness to the Speedhub drivetrain compared to a tensionerless setup, plus you have 100g of extra weight and something else to potentially bend/break/service.

Down the road, switching the QR hub to a frame with sliding dropouts would be a cinch.

I've used both sliders and EBBs, and I prefer the sliders, only because I have an easier time tensioning them. After setup, I haven't had problems with either.
