    hub geared full suspension

I have been riding and racing my marin mount vision as a single speed since 2000 it's now been superseeded by a whyte pres 1 as a single speed,,

i was thinking of converting the mount vision to an alfine ,, i have an efficent tensioner system which has reliably run as a single speed,,

but was interested in the effect of the extra weight on the rear wheel

I went from a FS 3x9 to a Rohloff Speedhub, which weighs more than an Alfine, and notice it is a little bit heavier when I lift it, but don't notice the extra weight at all on the trail.

I just recently converted a rigid SS to an Alfine, and notice a much bigger difference in the weight while lifting it, but I still don't notice the extra weight out on the trail.

I don't know the numbers for the Alfine but a Rohloff Speedhub is known to add about 1.5 pounds to a bike that previously had a 3x9. Obviously, an IGH is going to add more weight to a bike that didn't previously have two derailleurs, triple crank, 9speed cog, shifters, cables, etc.
